     Linwood B. "Doodle" Lawrence February 16, 1925 - February 15, 2013 Linwood B. “Doodle” Lawrence, 87, passed away Friday, February 15, 2013 in the Twin County Regional Hospital, Galax, VA. He was born in Cambria, Virginia on Monday, February 16, 1925 to Lemuel and Amanda Taylor Lawrence. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife June Lawrence, daughter Kathy Anderson, and sisters Anna Byrd and Margaret Winesett. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law: Jack and Charlotte Lawrence of the Fairview Community, Galax, VA; son-in-law John Anderson of the Baywood Community, Galax, VA; grandchildren and spouses: Tammy Harmon, Jackie Lynn and Benji Rippey, Joel Anderson, Jordan and Crystal Anderson, Jacob Anderson; great-grandchildren Hunter Rippey, Cole Pickett, Aiden Anderson and Hannah Rippey; brothers Clifton Lawrence of Salem, Virginia; Cullen Lawrence of Galax, Virginia; sister Mildred Campbell of Roanoke, Virginia; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Monday, February 18, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Pastor Sam Holder officiating. Burial will follow in the Felts Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 12 Noon until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 230 Charwood Drive, Abingdon,Virginia 24210 or the Baywood Search and Rescue, 47 Cross Roads Drive, Galax, VA 24333.²

     Orville Perry Lawrence was buried at Hilltop Cemetery, Hinton, Summers Co., West Virginia.^6,3 He was born on September 17, 1922 at West Virginia.⁴ He died on July 15, 1936 at Rochester, Olmsted Co., Minnesota, at age 13.^2,3 He Orville Perry Lawrence died in the Mayo Hospital at Rochester, Minn, shortly after noon, Wednesday, July 15th, 1936, aged 13 years. He was taken to the famous institution at Rochester by his devoted mother, Mrs. Harrison Lawrence (who was ever alert to see that he recured the best of attention possible) on July 4th after he had been treated in a local hospital for about eight days. His trouble was unusual and due to some malignant form of stomach trouble that failed to respond to the experts of the medical profession. It is stated that his death immediately followed an operation performed as a last resort to save him from death. Orville Perry was a bright and popular boy, a model in habits and his death was a great blow to his family and many young friends He attended military school in Kentucky last winter with his brother, Jackie, and was very studious in his endeavor to secure an education and equip himself for a future of usefulness. Besides his mother he is survived by the following brothers and sisters all of this city: Mrs. Frederick Hulme, Misses Sarah and Ethel Lawrence, Harrison, Jack and Tommy Lawrence. Burial followed in Hill Top cemetery. on July 22, 1936.³

He was a lifelong resident of Hinton, was a retired employee of the U.S. Postal Service, was graduated from Mullensburg Military School, was a member of the First Christian Church in Hinton, Elks Lodge and was a veteran of World War II. Other survivors include his wife, Mary; one son, Richard of Hinton; two daughters, Mrs. Margaret McFarlane of Bladensburg, Md., and Mrs. Mary L. Miller of Athens; one brother, Thomas of Annandale, Va; three sisters, Mrs. Thelma Hulme of Dayton, Ohio, Mrs. Sarah Heath of Milford, Va., and Miss Ethel Lawrence of Fort Lauderdale, Fla; and one granddaughter. The body is at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Home in Hinton. on May 29, 1975.⁵

Prior to moving to Annandale, he was the band director at Hampton High School from 1949-1966. He was the beloved husband of Jenny Trinklein Lawrence; father of Perry Lawrence and Randy Lawrence, of New York, and Lorry Peterson, of Tempe, Ariz; grandfather to Hannah Peterson, Haley Peterson and Harrison Peterson. He is also survived by his sister, Sarah Heath, of Hinton, W.Va. on November 27, 1994.⁶

     Dasie Elma Richardson was buried at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery, Forest Hill, Summers Co., West Virginia.³ She was born on December 27, 1904 at Summers Co., West Virginia.² She married David Cicero Light, son of John Ballard Light and Rebecca Ann "Annie" Link, on February 6, 1926 at Indianapolis, Marion Co., Indiana.^4,5 As of February 6, 1926,her married name was Light.⁵ Dasie Elma Richardson died on June 14, 1985 at Hinton, Summers Co., West Virginia, at age 80.^2,3 She Hinton - Mrs. Dasie Light Marsh, 80, of Hinton House, Hinton, died Friday in Summers County Hospital after a short illness. She lived most of her life in Summers County. She was a member of Forest Hill United Methodist Church, Hinton. Surviving: sons, Phillip J. Light of Forest Hill, Mauriece Light of Salem, Va; daughters, Lorene Crutchfield of Richmond, Va., Irene Waldron of Salem, Va., Ada Ann Maddy of Hinton, Phyllis Neel of Connersville, Ind; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren. Service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Ronald Meadows Funeral Home, Hinton, with the Rev. Chris Bennett and the Rev. Bruce Smith officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Baptist Cemetery, Forest Hill. on June 15, 1985.³
