Poff, 53, a meat cutter for Refrigerated Locker Service, Inc., Died of a heart attack yesterday in his room at the Park Hotel. His body was found on the floor near the bed by Jimmy Sutton, a clerk, and Sid Cochran, a guest, who had gone to Mr. Poff's room see if he wanted something to eat. Dr. Goff P. Lilly, county coroner, said Mr. Poff died of a heart attack and added that he had been in ill health about a year. He was born Nov. 9, 1899, in Kanawha County, son of the late John and Emma Holstein Poff, and had lived in the county all of his life. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. W. D. Parks of Charleston and Mrs. Ed Mullins of RFD 5, Charleston; two sisters, Mrs. A. S. Skaggs of Cabin Creek and Mrs. Bert Eads of Frame; and two grandchildren. Service will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow in Barlett mortuary Chapel. Rev. L. H. Greenwood will officiate and interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston. The body will remain at the mortuary until funeral time. on January 4, 1953.7

Lois Marie Poff died on January 5, 2007 at New York at age 79.3 She LYONS, N.Y. - Lois M. Pilkenton, 79, a resident of the DeMay Living Center, passed away Friday, Jan. 5, 2007. Friends and family called on Sunday (Jan. 7) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Weeks-Keysor Funeral Home, 5 Phelps St., in Lyons where a funeral service was held on Monday (Jan. 8) at 9:30 a.m. Burial followed at the South Lyons Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Town of Lyons Ambulance, Lyons Fire Department or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 435 E. Henrietta Rd., Rochester, NY 14620 in her memory. Lois was born in McDowell on Aug. 14, 1927, a daughter to Charles Hugh and Ollie Poff. She retired from the Lyons Elementary School and was known as the “lunch lady.” Lois was a wonderful housekeeper, very loving to all and never knew a stranger. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Scott) Spencer; son, William Jr. (Noreen); grandchildren, Jessica (Claire Gibson) Spencer, Jared (Crystal Avon) Spencer, Ashley and Adam Pilkenton; great-grandson, Aaron Scott Rodney Spencer, all of Lyons; two brothers, Edward and Fred Poff; sister, Rachel Roark, all of West Virginia; sister-in-law, Jessie Pilkenton of Lyons and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, William Sr. in 2001, and brothers, Everett and Calvin Poff. on January 9, 2007.3

She had lived in Bluewell for many years and had grown up in McDowell County and was a graduate of Northfork High School. She was a member of the Bluewell United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, her husband, Alvin Creath “Jack” Roark Sr. and a son, Alvin Creath Roark Jr; brothers, Everett “Pat” Poff and Calvin Poff; and a sister, Lois Pilkenton preceded her in death. Survivors: Brothers: Edward Poff and wife Stella of Bluewell, Fred Poff and wife Boots of Bluewell; several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Bluewell with the Rev. Sam Cale III officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 - 11:00 prior to the service at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell. The Cravens-Shires Funeral Home is serving the Roark family. on January 9, 2007.4
