Wanda was the daughter of Herman and Margaret Martin. Wanda graduated from Tunstall High School and Averett College (University). He was born on November 28, 1921, in Callaway, Virginia. He was the son of Morgin H. Martin and Effie Sigmon Martin of Montcalm - both of whom preceded him in death. He also had 2 brothers, Andy Martin and Otis Martin, and one sister, Irene Martin Wood, all of whom preceded him in death. Paul was a graduate of McComas High School, and served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He married Margaret Theda ("Johnnie") Johnson of Bluefield, Virginia, in 1944, and they remained married for 57 years until her death in 2001. He was a longtime employee with Consolidated Coal Company and was Supervisor of Consol's Coal Laboratory in Pocahontas, Virginia, until his retirement. He was a member of Bluewell United Methodist Church. He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Goforth, and her husband, Buck, of Roanoke, Virginia, and his son, Paul E. Martin, and his wife, Jill, of Charlotte, North Carolina, and a daughter-in-law, Lois Martin, of Centreville, Virginia. Also surviving, are 3 grandchildren, Kristy Goforth Muddiman and her husband, Paul, of Lexington, South Carolina; Jamie Goforth and his wife, Liz, of Denver, Colorado; and Patrick Martin of Arlington, Virginia. He is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Hunter, and Grant Muddiman of Lexington, SC. Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 11:00AM at the Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with Rev. Steve Rector officiating. Burial will follow with the US Navy Honor Guard performing military honors. on June 11, 2013.⁴

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Cravens Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Dr. Robert Stoddard, the Rev. D. Homer Stewart, and the Rev. David Ratcliff officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell where pallbearers will be T.A. Warden Jr., Merrell Crane, James Martin Sr., James Martin Jr., Robert Honaker, and Al Miles. on October 10, 2001.⁴
