Born in Christiansburg on Nov. 13, 1947 he was the son of the late Dewey Leonard and Virginia Epperley. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth and Cecil. Surviving are his sons and their companions, Brian Epperley and Drema Davenport, and Casey Epperley and Christy Boerstler; Sister and spouse, Jean and James Smith; Brother and spouse, Wayne and Margaret Epperley; Sisters-in-law, Roberta Epperley and Sheril Epperley; Grandchildren, Brittany Long, Kameron Boerstler, Austin Ryan Epperley and Graycee Ann Epperley; Special Niece, Shannon Epperley; Several other Nieces and Nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 17 at 1:30 p.m. from the New Life Church of the Nazarene, S. Jefferson Avenue, Pulaski with the Rev. Desmond Barrett and Rev. Tim West officiating. Burial will follow in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Dublin. The family is receiving friends at the church from 12 noon till the service hour. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sherrill Epperley; his sons, Shawn Douglas Epperley and Justin Cody Epperley; and his daughters, Amanda Epperley-Conner and Tristen Danielle Epperley. He also leaves behind his precious, new grandson, Gavin Michael Conner. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey Leonard Epperley and Virginia Pearl Epperley; sons, Shannon Michael Epperley and Bradley Scott Epperley, as well as his brother, Kenneth Ray Epperley. He also leaves behind his two brothers, Roger Lee Epperley and Douglas Wayne Epperley; and one sister, Norma Jean Epperley-Smith. He shared a life-long friendship with his buddy, Robert Peoples. Cecil was devoted to his entire family. He was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and won numerous fishing tournaments. His fishing boat could often be found on Claytor Lake and Gatewood Reservoir. His occupation as an automotive technician gained him a reputation for excellent work and an impeccable reputation for honesty. Cecil was a kind, gentle man with a smile and a laugh that transcended many difficulties. His calm, unassuming manner was an inspiration to everyone who knew him. He will be missed and his memory will be treasured in our hearts always. A memorial service will be held at New Life Church of the Nazarene on the corner of First Street and Jefferson Avenue Thursday, Aug. 4. Visitation will be at 2 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. Refreshments will be served in the church social hall after the service. on August 3, 2011.3

Don's childhood was spent in Bedford, VA and he later lived in Blue Ridge, VA. He was 75 years of age. He transitioned into the arms of Jesus on November 1, 2023 and is now surrounded by the glory and majesty of his God, Creator, and beloved Savior, Jesus Christ. Don was the son of the late Lonnie Henry Parker and Mary Christine Wood Parker. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Mitchell, and his brother, Lonnie Thomas Parker. Don is survived by his wife, Jane Stone Parker; daughters, Angela Leonard, (Alan) and Lara Nichols; grandchildren, Leslie Leonard Wright (Dakota), Joshua Leonard, Adam Nichols, Emma Leonard, and Allison Nichols; one brother, Michael Parker (Rhonda); and sisters, Gwen Craig and Karen Waldron (Johnny); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Don was affected by dementia in the last few years of his life, but was lovingly cared for to the end by his wife at home. Even through his challenges, he never failed to prompt laughter and joy. He passed surrounded by family. Don retired from Rubatex Industries. He was a faithful member of Rainbow Forest Baptist Church and an avid hunter and fisherman, well-known for his incredible skill. He was the best Poppy his children and grandchildren could ever wish for! He was also a supporter of mission work and special needs children in honor of his grandson, Joshua.
