Born Feb. 15, 1920 at Trailee, he was the son of the late Fred and Effie Blevins Wood. Educated in Mercer County, he was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army. He received the American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Service Stars, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star and the Good Conduct Medal. Clyde was a retired carman for the C & O Railroad, working in the Car Shop at Raceland, Ky. with 15 years of service. Rev. Wood had been ordained since 1948, he had established many churches and had ministered in Ohio, Kentucky, Virginia and West Virginia, retiring in 2003 from the Oakvale Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Juanita Craft Wood, his second wife, Martha Robins Wood, along with a son, Thomas Lee Wood; two brothers, Richard Wood and Robert Lloyd Wood; and a sister, Delphia Conner. Survivors: Two sisters, Helen Hart and husband Wesley of Princeton, Hildred Ellen Rockwood of Middletown, Ohio; a host of nephews and nieces. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Ball Family Cemetery, Speedway with Pastor Ralph Calfee officiating. Friends may visit with the family Sunday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton. Those wishing to attend graveside services are requested to meet at the funeral home. The family of Rev. Willard Clyde Wood is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory and Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton. on August 1, 2004.2

Born March 20, 1925 in Crab Orchard, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Effie Blevins Wood. Mildred was a homemaker and a member of the Rich Creek Baptist Church in Spanishburg. She was an avid bowler receiving numerous trophies from league bowling through the years. In addition to her parents, three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband of fifty years, Wesley Preston Hart of Princeton; two sons, Charles William Carrico and wife Sandy Gayle, and David Seible all of Middletown, Ohio; two grandchildren, Christopher Matthew Carrico and Ruth Ann Seible; and four great-grandchildren, Christopher Sebastian, Catherine Gayle, Aroura, and Hayley. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 26, 2008 at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Ralph Calfee officiating. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Princeton. on January 25, 2008.2

Survivors include three sons, Dennie of Princeton, Robert of Craigsville and Jesse of Pierpont; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Craft of Matheny and Mrs. Ruby Halsey of Pierpoint; three brothers, Lacy and Posey, both of Saulsville, and Gilbert Phillips of Virginia; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Buchanon of Maben and Mrs. Mae Sarver of Oak Hill; 24 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Sam Foglesong, Nease and Neely Funeral home in Mullens. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. on October 8, 1974.3

Born January 16, 1924, at Pierpoint, she was the daughter of the late Oak and Ola Phillips Tolliver. Ruby was a homemaker, she was a 1942 graduate of Mullens High School, and she was a lifelong member of the Pierpoint Freewill Baptist Church. In her leisure she enjoyed gardening, canning, crafting, especially loved crocheting, and spending time with her family. When we pause to remember Ruby, we shall remember her for her love of her church, her family, and her willingness to share her crafts and canning goodies with others. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Junior Halsey; a daughter, Mary Ann Privett; a sister, Ruth Craft; and three brothers, William, Denny, and Robert Tolliver. Those left to cherish her memory include three daughters, Barbara Cring and her husband, Richard, of Geneva, NY, Janet Frank and her husband, James, of Pierpoint, and Robin Barker and her husband, Lenny, of Pierpoint; two sons, Richard Halsey and his wife, Rita, of Elkhorn City, KY, and Tom Halsey and his wife, Becky, of Hotchkiss; nine grandchildren, Susan Tomkins, Rhonda Kyer, Rusty Halsey, Julie Cox, Paula Cook, Shane Barker, Chad Barker, Emily Halsey, and T.J. Halsey; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Jesse Tolliver and his wife, Carrie, of Pierpoint. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at Pierpoint Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Charles "Butch" Acord officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the church and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Donations of sympathy may be made to the Pierpoint Freewill Baptist Church, P.O. Box 714, Mullens, WV 25882. on May 27, 2012.3

He was 86 and the last surviving member of his family. Jesse was born on February 16, 1928 at Pierpoint. He was the son of the late Oakey J. and Viola (Ola) Phillips Tolliver. Jesse started working with Virginian Railroad and finished working for Norfolk and Western. He worked for 44 years and 6 months on the railroad. He was a member of the Pierpoint Freewill Baptist Church where he had the honor of being a Deacon, Choir Leader, Trustee, and Sunday school Superintendent until November 2013. Jesse as a young man also had the honor of pulling out the nails of used lumber which was donated by Ritter Saw Mill to help build Pierpoint Church. Oakey J. Tolliver (his father) worked at Ritter Saw Mill before his death. Jesse loved to give items away from his home grown garden vegetables, wood working items that he would make, and the baked goods that Jesse and his loving wife (Carrie) would make. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by an infant son, Linden Douglas Tolliver; five brothers, Jr., Drew, William, Denny, and Robert Tolliver; two sisters, Ruth Craft and Ruby Halsey; and a son-in-law, Darrell Gillespie. Jesse leaves behind his wife, the love of his life of almost 65 years, Carrie Deloris (Lusk) Tolliver. Jesse spotted her at church one night and told the person he was with that he was going to marry her and he did. He also leaves behind three children, daughter, Sheila Tolliver of Beaver; a son, Randall Tolliver and his wife, Lois of Beckley; and a daughter, Delilah Gillespie of Pierpoint; three grandchildren, Scotty Martin and his wife, Lisa of Beaver, Patricia Lester and her husband, Danny of Mullens, and Terri Lea Blankenship and her husband, P.J. of Mullens; nine great grandchildren, Tyler, Cody, and Jayden Lester, Adriana and Abigail Martin, Patrick, Logan, Emma, and Nina Blankenship; and a great great grandchild due in November; he leaves behind his loving furry friend, Lizzie who adored him so much; Uncle Jesse also leaves behind several nieces and nephews that called or came by to see him almost every day. He also will leave behind two very special friends, Bill and Joan Webster from Belcher's Dry Cleaners. He will be missed by his church family and other nephews and nieces. The celebration of his life will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at the Pierpoint Freewill Baptist Church, with Pastor Charles "Butch" Acord officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of services today at the church. Pallbearers will be men of the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his honor to the Bowers Hospice House P.O. Box 1472 Beckley, WV 25802-1472. on September 9, 2014.3
