Interment in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Stanley, Kan. Memorials are suggested to Heartland Hospice. Helen married her high school sweetheart, Leonard Dale Chaney in 1944 in Stark, Fla. Long-time residents of the Stanley, Kan., area, she enjoyed raising her family and spending time with friends. Helen's creative talents were shared in working with ceramics, sewing, and cake-decorating. Surviving family include her children Sherryl (Paul) Kranker, David Michael Chaney, and Dan (Ong) Chaney, six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by
her husband, her parents, Jesse and Virginia Gray, her brothers, Vernon Gray, Woodrow Gray, Paul Gray, and her sister, Virginia Soetaert. on April 19, 2012.4

As a young man he was prominent in athletic circles in this city. He left Salt Lake City in 1933 to become assayer in charge of the New Orleans mint, where he remained eight years before going to San Francisco. He married Jeannette Morris here, July 12, 1900. Survivors include the widow and two daughters, Mrs. Helen Blixt, Portland, and Mrs. Dorothy Wilks, Salt Lake City. Funeral services and burial will be in Salt Lake City. on October 19, 1943.8

He married Dorothy Rippeto Oct. 10, 1924, in Salt Lake City. He graduated from West High School, where he played and was a track star. Following graduation, he played played semi-professional basketball and baseball for D&RG Railroad. He was a member of the Deseret Gymnasium and was well known in handball circles. He was a life member of the BPO Elks No. 85, member of the Meadowbrook Golf Club and Bowling League and a member of the Copper Golf Club. He worked for the Victor Ball Company for a number of years and then became the owner of Mecca Billiards until selling in 1948. He later worked for the Salt Lake Street Department until his retirement in 1968. He moved to Ivins, Utah, in 1970, where he was a member of Dixie Red Hills and Lava Hills golf clubs. He was also a member of the Utah Senior Men's Golf Association. He moved to St. George in 1981. Survivors include his wife of St. George; a daughter, Mrs. R.A. (Dixie) Lynch of San Carlos, Calif; a sister, Mrs. Dorothy E. Sydner of Benicia, Calif; and a brother, Jack A. Wilks of El Cerrito, Calif. Interment will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery. on September 16, 1986.5

Surviving are her children, Warren Jackson Ellison and his wife, Marsha, of Framingham, Massachusetts, and Susan Pamela Ulrich and her husband, Paul, of Roanoke, Virginia; grandchildren, Michelle Leigh O'Baugh Carter, Christopher Mark O'Baugh, Jay Lhundrup Ellison and Jenna Mandharva Ellison; step grandchildren, Douglas Michael Ulrich and Jonathan Brandon "Brad" Ulrich; great-grandchildren, Chase and Ollie Carter, Brandon, Gwendolynn and Anastasia Ulrich. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2010, at Augusta Memorial Park by the Reverend Janet Knott. The family will receive friends at the residence anytime.
