Born Sept 26, 1915, at Duhring, he was a son of Helen Gilmore Pickett of Duhring and the late Andrew W. Pickett. He had been a life long resident of Duhring and was a retired miner and carpenter. He was a member of the Duhring Community Church and was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Alcott Pickett. In addition to his mother, survivors include his widow, Ruth Pickett of Duhring; four daughters, Nellie Pickett and Virginia Pickett, both of the home, Linda Thomas of Baltimore, Md., and Wilda Bickford of Baltimore; two sons, Dale Pickett and Robert Pickett, both of Baltimore; one step-daughter, Doris Isennock of Baltimore; one sister, Mrs. Lana Thompson of Sandston, Va; one brother, R. B. Pickett of Duhrig; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel at Bluewell with Brady Burnette Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery at Bluewell. Pallbearers will be D. C. Thomas, Ronnie Thomas, Jim Willhite, Jimmy Lowe, Harry Lowe and Donald Hedrick. on June 17, 1979.

Former member of Masonic Lodge and Bricklayers Union, and was an avid outdoor person. Surviving are his wife, Marie C. (Burchett) Pickett; daughters, Patricia (E. Thomas) Monroe of Hickory, N.C. and Pam (Ted) Chilcote of Groveport; sons, Thomas V. (June) Pickett of Montcalm, W.Va. and Steven L. Pickett of Alexandria; 7 grandchildren, including Heather, Jettie and Deanna; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, Nelson Pickett of Bluefield, W.Va. and Kelly Pickett of Fairfax, Va; sister, Joyce Havens of Montcalm, W.Va; numerous nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends at the WARREN F. KAUBER FUNERAL HOME, Pataskala, from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday with Pastor Larry Maddux officiating. Mrs. Havens worked as a teacher and business woman for many years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie J. Havens; two brothers, Ted Pickett Jr. and Nelson Pickett; two grandsons; and one great-grandson. Survivors include: Three sons, Bernie E. Ratcliff and wife Debbie of Buckeye Lake Thornville, Ohio, David W. Havens of Bluefield, W.Va., Craig M. Havens and wife Cynthia of Montcalm, W.Va; four daughters, Shirley A. Miller and Pat Tiller of Rock, W.Va., Judy G. Norris and husband Don of Rock, W.Va., Regina S. Pennington and husband Robert of Boissevain, Va., Bernice M. Lucado and husband Bucky of Bluefield, W.Va; one brother, Kelly E. Pickett of Lake Anna, Va; special care taker, Kathy J. Hicks; thirteen grandchildren; and twenty great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 06, 2009 at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, W.Va. at 11:00 a.m. with the Minister Eddie Mabe officiating the service. Women of the Moose Lodge Chapter 565 will hold a special ceremony prior to the funeral service. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Friends and family may call at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, W.Va. on Sunday, July 05, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons. Thomas of Littlesburg; fourteen grandchildren; and the following brothers and sisters: Euna B. Noonen of Princeton, Shanna Mays of Covel, Okley H. Thomas of Hinton, Radric Thomas of Princeton, Frank Thomas of New Springfield, O., and Donald C. Thomas of Eckman. on January 10, 1951.

Born in Oakvale, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Minnie Cole Thomas. She was a member of the First Christian Church, the Rennee Carter Group of the church, the Daughters of the American Revolution, Eastern Star Princeton Chapter 53, the A.A.R.P., and the Pisgah Home Demonstration Club. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William C. Thornton, second husband, Walter Noonan, and one son, Randy Thornton. Survivors include one son, Archie T. Thornton of Daleville, Va; two daughters, Mrs. Edgar (Fleta) Talbott of Grundy, Va., and Mrs. Minnie Lou Snider of Salem, Va; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the First Christian Church with Rev. Richard Flowers officiating. Burial be in the Thornton Cemetery at Oakvale. on October 18, 1982.

Inurnment will follow at a later date in the Phillips family Cemetery on Browns Ridge Road, Lerona. on January 4, 2006.

Born on August 17, 1929 in Possum Hollow, she was a daughter of the late Roscoe B. and Pearl May Kelly Thomas. She had been a resident of Bluewell for most her life and was the retired owner and operator of Snow's Grill in Bluewell. She was also an avid BINGO player. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William David Frost, Sr; her second husband, Alvis Otis Snow, Sr; three sisters, Helen and Jean Skeens, and Edith Phillips; and four brothers, Earnest, Hobart, Charles, and Leonord Thomas; two granddaughters, Carmella Wiley and Victoria Carty; and one grandson, Sherman Wiley. Survivors include her seven daughters, Pearl and Doug Brimm of GlenWood Park, Vickie and Roger Carroll of Hurricane Road, Diana and David Scott of Bluefield, Angela and Larry Carty of Tennessee, Alva Arnold of Bluewell, Barbara and Harry Campbell of Hamlet, N.C. and April and Tim Hunt of Princeton; six sons, David and Phyllis Frost of Route 20, Wesley Frost of Bluefield, James and Ersie Frost of Bluefield, Sammy and Claudia Frost of Welch, Alvis Snow of Monroe, N.C., Adam and Joanna Snow of Bluewell; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a sister, Thelma Skeens of Oakvale. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with Harry Campbell, David Scott, Jerry Dinger, Douglas Frost, Douglas "Buck" Brimm, Jr., Ronnie Brimm serving as pallbearers. on April 8, 2009.

Funeral services will be held 11 am Monday in the chapel of Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 5753 Blanding Blvd. with interment to follow in Riverside Memorial Park. on February 16, 2003.
