Conner, 71, of Kegley, died Wednesday in a Bluefieid nursing home after a short illness. Bom at Gardener, she was a member of the Kegley United Methodist Church. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Vinie (Josephine) Wiley of Kegley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard C. Conner, in October 1982. Born August 7, 1913 in Princeton, she was the daughter of the late Shannon Carr Hill and Beulah B. Walker Hill. She was a retired service personnel with more than 20 years of service with the Mercer County Board of Education at Thorn Street Elementary School. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Princeton where she was a member of the Rise & Shine Circle and the AARP. She was preceded in death by her husband James Willard Conner, son James Kenneth Conner and two sisters, Mrs. Delma Wood and Mrs. Ruth Higgins. Survivors; daughter, Mrs. Larry (Bettye Sue) Bolen, Sr. of Princeton, sisters, Mrs. Lawrence E. (Kathleen) Crotty of Point Pleasant and Mrs. Jack (Jackie) Whittaker of Princeton; brothers, Dual Lee Hill of Princeton and Dale C. Hill of Statesville, N.C; two grandchildren, Kathy Jo Farley and Julia Anne Farley, both of Princeton; two step-grandchildren.      Mary Parthiena Bailey was buried at Resthaven Memorial Park, 1917 West Main Street, Princeton, Mercer Co., West Virginia.^4,5 She was born on February 9, 1882 at Crumpler, McDowell Co., West Virginia.⁵ She married Fredrick Hines "Fred" Conner Sr., son of James Harrison Conner and Louisa Frances Stewart, on December 25, 1901 at Bristol, Sullivan Co., Tennessee.⁴ As of December 25, 1901,her married name was Conner. Mary Parthiena Bailey died on September 29, 1966 at Bluefield, Mercer Co., West Virginia, at age 84.^4,5 She Princeton - Mary Parthenia Conner, 84, of Old Athens Road, Princeton, died in a Bluefield hospital Thursday night. Born at Crumpler, she was a daughter of the late Maston and Nancy Lambert Bailey. Her husband, Fred H. Conner, died in 1965. Survivors include four sons, J. G. of Rock, H. M. and Berman, both of Princeton, and Fred H. Jr. of Mullens; six daughters, Mrs. Oakley Simpson, Mrs. J. C. Martin and Mrs. Lou Ross, all of Bluefield, Mrs. J. H. DeWeese and Mrs. Paul Martin, both of Mullens, and Mrs. Nathan E. White of Princeton; a brother, John Bailey of Athens; 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Burns-Wornal Chapel of Memorial Funeral Directory with the Rev. Paul Bohn in charge. Burial will be in the Resthaven Park Cemetery. The body will remain at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be William, Clarence and Forrest Bailey, Clark Butler, Richard Wills and Eugene Nicewander, Women of the Melrose Presbyterian Church will carry flowers. on October 1, 1966.⁴

Bill was born in Pittsburgh, PA and graduated from West Liberty College in West Virginia where he met his wife and soul mate of 65 years, Maxine. He joined the Navy after the bombing of Pearl Harbor and was stationed in Corvallis, Oregon where he helped set up Camp Adair and served as a physical therapist. After the war Bill and Maxine returned to Pittsburgh for a brief time, but made their home in Oregon for the better part of the next 10 years. Bill's presence was felt in the small town of Drain where he was "The Coach". He coached his football, baseball and basketball teams to five State Championships. He was also instrumental in building the Veterans' Memorial Swimming Pool and organizing a semi-pro baseball team, the Drain Black Socks, and coached his team to the National Championship. In 1952, Bill joined Business Men's Assurance Company as a salesman where he excelled, qualifying for the Million Dollar Round Table each and every year. In 1954 he was promoted to Branch Manager of the Sacramento BMA office where he mentored and supervised as many as 50 salesmen at one time. Bill remained active during his entire career with the Lions Club. In 1978, Bill retired from BMA. He and Maxine returned once again to their Oregon roots in 1999 to enjoy each other, their grandchildren, great-grandchildren and see the world. Bill is survived by his wife, Maxine; two daughters, Linda and her husband Keith Lovett and Karen and her husband Harold Weight; two sons, William and his wife Gwen and Bob and his wife Jan; 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. on November 11, 2006.²

     James Earlie "Earl" Gearhart was buried at Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Wright's Mountain, Mercer Co., West Virginia.¹ He was born on March 10, 1966 at Bluefield, Mercer Co., West Virginia.¹ He died on June 2, 2001 at Cleveland, Cuyahoga Co., Ohio, at age 35.¹ He CLEVELAND, Ohio - James Earlie 'Earl' Gearhart, 35, of Cleveland, formerly of Rock, died Saturday, June 2, 2001 at his home. Born March 10, 1966, in Bluefield, he was the son of the late James Melvin Gearhart and Connie Rose Gearhart Singh of Cleveland. Mr. Gearhart was a mechanic in Cleveland. He was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death his paternal grandfather, Casper Earlie Gearhart; and his maternal grandparents, John and Alice Rose. In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sons, James Gearhart and Andrew Gearhart both of Cleveland; paternal grandmother, Eldona Gearhart of Rock; stepfather, Mike Singh of Cleveland; four sisters, Selena Tancik, Aletha Falkenstein, Alice Gearhart, and Cathy Rametta all of Cleveland; two uncles, Gene Gearhart of Rock and Tommy Rose of Cleveland; and four aunts, Evelene Horne of Rock, Joy Garten of Roanoke, Va., and Cora Atwell and Shirley Rose both of Montcalm. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Wright Mountain Baptist Church in Rock with the Rev. Randolph Dishner officiating. Interment will follow at Wesley Chapel Cemetery at Wright Mountain, Rock. Pallbearers will be Carson Dishner, Wayne DeBoard, Brad Vaughan, Raymond Atwell, John Atwell, and Dwight McCormick. Friends may call at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton from 7-9 p.m. today and at the church one hour prior to funeral service. on June 6, 2001.¹
