     Marcheta Gwendolyn Harris Marcheta Gwendolyn Harris Ferguson, 91, of Roanoke, Va., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 28, 2019. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Delbert J. Ferguson; parents, Claude and Audrey Carr Harris; brothers, James Harris, Bill Harris, Charles Harris; and sister, Margaret Harris Johnson. Marcheta is survived by sons, David (Jennifer) and Steve (Laurie); grandchildren, Andrew Ferguson and Rion Ferguson; sisters, Deloris Harris Ayers (Tom) and Murlene Harris Williams; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was born in Columbia, S.C. on June 20, 1928. Marcheta graduated from Andrew Lewis High School and continued on to receive a certification at Kree Institute of Electrolysis. She worked in private practice as an electrologist for 47 years. Marcheta was a long-time member of Grandin Court Baptist Church. The family wishes to thank Heartland Hospice, Park Oak Grove and Jo Lee Preston, NP for their care. Mr. Headley had been living in Danville since 1954, where he was the owner and operator of Headley's Service Center, on the corner of Watson and Montague Street. He ran the Service Center for 30 years and retired at age 65. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army in World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post #141 in Richmond, a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge #49 in Roanoke, a member of Greene Memorial United Methodist Church in Roanoke, and he was a graduate of the National Business College in Roanoke. Survivors include his wife, Vergie Carr Headley, of the home; two daughters, Darlene Headley Griffin, Crozet, and Miss Janet M. Headley of the home; a son-in-law, Michael T. Griffin, Crozet; and two grandsons. A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday, March 23, 1994 at 2 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery in Vinton, Va., by the Rev. Walter M. Lockett Jr. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times at the residence, 155 Montague Street. Arrangements by Swicegood Funeral Home. on March 22, 1994.1

They were members of Blue Hills Golf Club where Ruby was a member of the Ladies Golf Association. She was an avid bowler at the Viking Lanes for many years. Ruby belonged to several bridge clubs and continued to play bridge until shortly before her death. She was a long time member of Grandin Court Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, Michael; daughter-in-law, Jacqueline; grandchildren, Garrett, Lauren, and Hunter; sister-in-law, Mildred English; and numerous nephews and nieces. Special thanks to caregiver Betty Conner and good friend and neighbor Barbara Coleman who helped Ruby to continue to live independently over the last several years. The family will receive friends at Oakey's South Chapel on Thursday December 26, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, December 27, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Oakey's South Chapel with interment to follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. on December 25, 2013.3

(Red) English, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2010, after an extended illness. He was born in Franklin County on April 16, 1920, to the late William P. and Vandalia English and moved to Roanoke as a child. He graduated from Jefferson High School and National Business College before starting a career with the Norfolk & Western Railroad. During World War II he served in the United States Navy and then returned to his career at the railroad, retiring after 42 years. He coached Little League Baseball and enjoyed golf and playing cares. Red was a member of the Elks and the Lions Club and a recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellow award from the Lions. He was a member of Grandin Court Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruby; son, Michael; daughter-in-law, Jacqueline; and grandchildren, Garrett, Lauren and Hunter. He is also survived by his brother, William P. "Penny" English; sister, Clonnie Crouch; and nephews and nieces. Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 30, 2010, at Oakey's South Chapel. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, November 29, 2010, at Oakey's South Chapel, 540-989-3131. on November 30, 2010.4

     David Carr Ferguson David Carr Ferguson, 58, of Roanoke passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2020. He was a heavy machine operator and he worked for the Kingery Brothers and retired from Avis Construction. David loved NASCAR and was a big fan of Dale Earnhardt, Sr. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, and really liked to watch his son play high school football. David was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Marcheta Ferguson; sister-in-law, Rebecca Wallace, brothers-in-law, Alex Keffer, John DiCarlo. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Jennifer Ferguson; son, Andrew Ferguson; brother, Steve Ferguson and his wife, Laurie; sisters-in-law, Kathleen DiCarlo, Anne Gentry and her husband, John; brother-in-law, John Keffer and his wife, Michelle; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at Sherwood Memorial Park.3 He was buried at Sherwood Burial Park, 1045 Lynchburg Turnpike, Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.3 He was born on August 24, 1961 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.4 He married Jennifer Jordan Keffer on November 22, 2000 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.5 David Carr Ferguson died on July 16, 2020 at Virginia at age 58.3
