He was a retired employee of Jack Pickard Imports, a member of the Independent Order of the Odd Fellows for 60 years and was past president of the Guilford County React. He was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by wife, Elizabeth Mann of the home; daughter, Catharine Leigh McKellar of Raleigh; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sister, Barbara Keith of Florida; her brother-in-law, Dan Tetlow of Virginia; in-laws in Florida, a large clan of Keiths in South Carolina and Hathaway family members in Massachusetts. Jo-Ann is a national member of the DAR and of the Mayflower Society. A 40-year resident of Richmond, Jo-Ann also leaves behind many cherished friends, to include Mary, Karen, Tyla and Diane. An Army brat, born in Greenville, S.C., she graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University, and made Richmond, her favorite city, her home, where she began an art teaching career at Brookland Middle School in Henrico County. Jo-Ann loved gardening and is well-known for her gifts of home-grown tomatoes and homemade blackberry jam. A talented artist, her paintings, ceramic works, pottery, and unique gargoyles are gifts her friends and family hold dear. Together, David and Jo-Ann shared a love of animals, rescuing many, and of nature. Her generosity will always be remembered by her family and friends.
