Pegram, 82, of Bassett, died Friday, March 4, 2011, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville. He was born in Winston Salem, N.C., on Sept. 11, 1928, to Thomas Roger Pegram and Carrie Hines Pegram. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Iris M. Pegram; and a sister, Doris P. Maxey. He graduated from Bassett High School and retired as a supervisor from Dupont after 37 1/2 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bassett, where he was a member of the Joy Group, former deacon, Sunday school teacher and choir member. He was also a member, past president and a Paul Harris Fellow of the Bassett Rotary Club. Surviving are his children, Helen P. Lenviel and Lydia Pegram, both of Bassett, and Bruce Hines Pegram II of Myrtle Beach, S.C; six grandchildren; three brothers, Richard G. Pegram of Seaford, Del., and John T. Pegram and Joe S. Pegram, both of Bassett. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church of Bassett with the Rev. Lew Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Burial Park. on March 5, 2011.²
