Doris Jean Paris Mrs. Doris Jean Paris Shockey of Fayetteville died on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Sanford, Fla., she was the daughter of Scottish immigrants, the late Peter and Jean Ann Milne Paris. At an early age, she and her family moved to Fayette County. Mrs. Shockey received her education at Fayetteville High School, Roanoke Business College, Marshall University, and West Virginia University. For forty-four years she worked in the educational field, first as an elementary school teacher and the last twenty years as a specialist/supervisor for the Fayette County Board of Education. In 1997, she was honored at the Greenbrier as one of seven outstanding Reading/Language Arts supervisors in West Virginia. She was a trainer of trainers for the drug program, "Here's Looking at You, 2000" and "Writing to Read." She was a member of the Fayette County Retired School Employees, the Red Hat Society, the Angel Group, Fayette County Study Club, Delta Kappa Gamma Society for Outstanding Women Educators, Fayetteville Presbyterian Church, and the ladies circle. Known for her inspirational devotions, she often was asked to speak at several of these civic organizations. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Dennis Eye; and brother-in-law, James Arden Gravely. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Bonnie Hill and husband, Howard, and Jacqueline Eye, both of Teays Valley; son, David Shockey of Oak Hill; sister, Catherine Gravely of Oak Hill; her granddaughters, Andrea Thornton of Teays Valley and Katherine Eye of Huntington. Surviving: her beloved grandsons and their wives, John and Della Nicholas of Fayetteville, James and Jodi Nicholas of Huntsville, Ala., and Joseph and Janet Nicholas of Fayetteville; 10 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Oct. 4 at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Bishop Robert Doolittle officiating. Burial followed at Pleasant View Cemetery. on October 7, 2010.2

Lezon, Kevin Lezon; great-grandchildren, Hailey, Bradley, Jack, Savannah, Madison, Nicole, Kiley, Isaac, Nadia, Aidan, Phayden, Anna, and Elliott. Entombment services will be held at Lakewood Memory Gardens East. The family would like to especially thank Lori, Sheila and Michelle at Hospice of Chattanooga and a very dear neighbor, Tracey Burton. on May 3, 2012.5

He was preceded in death by his brother, Earl Martin, a sister, Ethel Bailes; and his wife, Betty, the mother of his children. Survivors include two daughters, Donna Hamblin of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Carol Rock of Farnham, Va; two sons, Benjamin Robert Martin of Berryville, Va., and Christopher King Martin of Purcellville, Va; two sisters, Zella Tallant of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Laura Wood of Fayetteville; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Graveside rites and committal service will be at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville, with military graveside rites by VFW Post No. 3110 of Oak Hill. on March 7, 2008.5

Creger, Lisbon, Maine; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Smith, Michael Housler; two great-grandchildren, Sarah Housler, Jonathon Housler. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Fred D. Snell and a daughter, Sharon Housler. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens near Harrisonburg. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1920-H Medical Ave., Harrisonburg, Va. 22801. on January 4, 2004.2

Mr. Creger died of a heart attack Saturday at Keller Hospital at West Point Military Academy. He was born Oct. 5, 1921, at Oakhill, W.Va., and was a son of the late Leo C. and Ocie Shockey Creger. He had served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He worked for the U.S. Past Office and later worked for the Los Angeles Times for 35 years. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He moved to Harrisonburg three years ago and attended Asbury United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Lois M. Creger; two sons, Leo C. Creger III of Oxnard, Calif., and Phillip Creger of Mount Pleasant, S.C; a daughter, Christine Palmer of Prescott, Ariz; a brother, Robert Creger of Richmond; two sisters, Ruth Snell of Grottoes and Salena Winterbottom of Belton, Mo; and six grandchildren. on October 7, 1987.3

Creger, a World War II veteran and member of the Baptist church, had been employed at the FMC chemical plant in South Charleston. Survivors are his mother, Mrs. Ocie Creger of South Charleston; two sisters, Salena Weatherbottom of Charleston, and Mrs. Ruth Snell of Alaska, and three brothers, Charles W. of Scarbro, Leo Clyde of Lancaster, Calif., and Robert E. of Grottoes, Va. Burial will be in High Lawn Memorial Park at Oak Hill. on September 3, 1971.2

Lois May Adair Lois May (Adair) Creger, of Mt. Pleasant, SC passed away peacefully on May 4, 2019 at the age of 93. Mrs. Creger was born on June 30, 1925 in Compton, Los Angeles County, California; a daughter of the late Emery Addison Adair and Virginia Marie Diehl Adair Trigg. Mrs. Creger was born and raised in California graduating with a degree in Radiologic Technology. She was the Director of Radiology at Lancaster Community Hospital for over 20 years before retiring and moving to Harrisonburg, Virginia. She later went back to work as a Mammography Imaging Technician at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg until retiring a second time and moving to Mt. Pleasant, SC to be closer to family. Mrs. Creger, a dedicated mother and grandmother who was active in the community, her church and Meals on Wheels. She was also an avid gardener and loved to travel both locally and internationally. Mrs. Creger was married to the "love of her life" Leo Clyde Creger, Jr. on August 23, 1943 until Mr. Creger passed away on October 3, 1987. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Patricia Ann Creger. Surviving are: her children, Christine L. Grill (Damion) of Prescott, Arizona, Leo C. Creger, III (Diane) of Camarillo, California and Phillip W. Creger (Alexandra "Sandra") of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; her six grandchildren: Leo C. Creger, IV of Hawaii, John R. Creger (Renee) of California, Heather D. Creger (K.D.) of Missouri, Christopher P. Creger (Rachel) of New Jersey, Stephanie A. Creger, of South Carolina and Alexander W. Creger of North Carolina. Also surviving is one brother, George Adair (California). Interment will be at a later date at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens, Harrisonburg, Virginia where her husband is buried.1 She was buried at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens, 3289 Spotswood Trail, Harrisonburg, Rockingham Co., Virginia.2,1 She was born on June 30, 1925 at Compton, Los Angeles Co., California.1 As of August 23, 1943,her married name was Creger.1 She married Leo Clyde Creger Jr., son of Leo Clyde Creger Sr. and Ocie Emaline Shockey, on August 23, 1943.1 Lois May Adair died on May 4, 2019 at Mount Pleasant, Charleston Co., South Carolina, at age 93.1
