     William J. 'Bill' Wolter was buried at Hopewell Cemetery, Rileysburg, Vermilion Co., Indiana.1 He was born on August 24, 1915.1,2 He married Betty Lou Stockard, daughter of James Lewis Stockard and Pearl S. Smith, on November 7, 1942.1 William J. 'Bill' Wolter died on February 22, 2010 at Williamsport, Warren Co., Indiana, at age 94.1,2 He Perrysville, IND. — William J. “Bill” Wolter, 94, of Gessie, Ind., died at 1:20 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, at St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital. He was born Aug. 24, 1915, the son of Frank C. and Winona (Redmond) Wolter. He was born on the family farm and lived there his entire life. Bill was farmer all of his life, raised registered Angus cattle, and Hampshire and Southdown sheep that he showed at county and state fairs. He also raised registered beagles. He was a member of Gessie United Methodist Church, Indiana Farm Bureau, I&I Antique Tractor and Gas Engine Club and the Missouri Fox Trotters Association. He was a staunch supporter of the Vermillion County 4-H. In 2004, his family farm was designated a Hoosier Homestead farm, after being owned by the Wolter family for over 100 years. Bill enjoyed visiting with his family, and especially loved visits from his great-grandchildren, whose energy gave him great joy. He enjoyed telling about the history he remembered and his family will miss his stories. He remembered hearing, as a little boy, all the bells in Danville ringing to celebrate the end of World War I and in his thirties, hearing them sound again to mark the end of World War II. He and Audrey spent many winters at San Juan Gardens, Texas. He loved to travel and had visited all 50 states. He also enjoyed camping, golf, his Kubota tractors, having coffee with the fellows in the morning and coon and fox hunting. He loved his horses and rode them until the age of 92. Bill married Betty Lou Stockard on Nov. 7, 1942, and she died May 27, 1951. He married Audrey Lindley Aug. 9, 1952, in Danville, Ill. She survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Phyllis (Kenny) Wilson of Perrysville, Ind; three grandchildren, Cheryl (Dan) Bridge, Carol (Keith) Dilts and Michael (Jodie) Wilson all of Perrysville; six great-grandchildren, Emily and Samuel Bridge, Rachel and Ethan Dilts, and Anne and Alison Wilson. He is survived by three nephews, John (Brenda) Bush of Lebanon, Ind., Dan (Karen) Bush of Perrysville and Dean (Jane) Piatt of Armstrong, Ill; a niece, Jeannie (Norman) Rademacher of Gifford, Ill; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. His parents; wife, Betty; infant daughter, Pamela Lou; and a sister, Louise Bush, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. EST Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, at Shelby Funeral Home in Covington, Ind., with Rev. Larry Stoops officiating. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. EST Thursday and one hour before services Friday. Memorials may be given to Gessie United Methodist Church or Vermillion County 4-H with envelopes available at Shelby Funeral Home. on February 25, 2010.1
