He was preceded in death by a son, Dallas Lawrence; a grandson, Mark Lawrence; three brothers, Russell Lawrence, Harless Lawrence and Zed Lawrence; a sister, Grace Young. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Ruth Fox Lawrence; two sons, Robert Lawrence and Homer Lawrence and his wife, Shelby, all of Princeton; three grandchildren, Robert Dwayne Lawrence, Phillip Lawrence and Deborah Anderson; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Ryan Lawrence of Princeton; and a sister, Hazel Martin of Columbus, Ohio. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home, Princeton, with the Revs. James Hebb and David Barnett officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton. on November 12, 1999.7

Funeral services will be held at the Paynes Creek Primitive Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. Friday with Elder Hale Terry and the Rev. John Ingram officiating. Interment will follow in Radford Cemetery, Floyd County. Friends may call after 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at Oakey's South Chapel. on March 13, 1991.4

He was born on February 28, 1956, the son of the late Roosevelt Emmett Thompson and Velma Pauline Conner Thompson. In addition to his parents, Curtis is also preceded in death by his beloved dogs, CT, Sissy, Jasmine, and Senecea. He is survived by his daughter, Samantha Raye Morris (Greg); and his cherished grandchildren, Kamrhen Wayne Thompson, Eithen Daniel Morris, and Step-Son Alan Lloyd (Shelly).      Elizabeth Ellen Gillock Elizabeth Ellen Thompson, lovingly known as "Piney" to her family, left this world to go be with Jesus and her precious Gramps on January 10, 2024, following a long-term illness. Born in Christiansburg, Va., on September 16, 1950, she is preceded in death by her mother, Jane Wheeland Gillock and two sons, David and Michael. Elizabeth had many things in life that gave her joy, namely, her children, grandchildren, and her dog, "Baby Girl," who passed several years ago. She also loved all of her faithful clients, Harley Davidson motorcycles, flea markets, beautiful clothes and high heels -- she always looked beautiful. She was a huge Willie Nelson fan, and her favorite places were the country, barns, and our beloved cabin, Kandota. Elizabeth had a big heart and would help anyone who needed it. Those Elizabeth leaves behind to mourn are her son, Alan (Shelly); four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; father, Richard E. Gillock; two sisters, Barbara Spencer Maier and Carol Dean (Jim); cousins, Caroline Calkins and John Blair; as well as two dear friends, Don and Cathy.4 She was born on September 16, 1950 at Christiansburg, Montgomery Co., Virginia.1,2,4 As of October 10, 1986,her married name was Thompson.1 She married Curtis Ray Thompson, son of Roosevelt Emmett "Pops" Thompson and Velma Pauline "Polly" Conner, on October 10, 1986 at Stewartsville, Bedford Co., Virginia.1 Elizabeth Ellen Gillock and Curtis Ray Thompson were divorced on November 30, 2007 at Bedford Co., Virginia.3 Elizabeth Ellen Gillock died on January 10, 2024 at Virginia at age 73.4
