He was one of the cleverest men in the profession at the bat, and his fielding was phenomenal. He first played with with the "Quicks," a local team, and in 1885 was was signed by the Detroits of the National League. Later he was sold to the London, Ontario team and during the season caught caught every game played. His best work was probably with the Brooklyns. under John Ward, in the Brotherhood year. Until about three years ago he continued in the ranks of the profession. He then then retired from the diamond and became associated in business with his father. He leaves a widow. on February 23, 1901.3
