Lois Ann Yeatts Lois Ann Yeatts Board of Check, Virginia, entered into eternal rest on May 5, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, and dedication to her family and community. Born on June 21, 1938, in Check, Virginia, Lois was the daughter of the late Tommy Yeatts and Helen Yeatts. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Albert “Buck” Yeatts, Thomas Wayne Yeatts, and Roger Yeatts, as well as her sisters-in-law, Suzanne Yeatts and Bonnie Yeatts. She is survived by her brother R. Lowell Yeatts and his wife Dorma Yeatts. Lois was a devoted wife to Daniel L. Board, Sr., and a loving mother to Daniel L. Board, Jr. (Kristie Board) of Arlington, Virginia. She was a proud and cherished grandmother to Kaitrin Board and Kaylee Board who brought her immense joy. She is also survived by multiple nieces and nephews who will remember her fondly. A lifelong learner, Lois attended Radford College, where she earned both her Bachelor of Science and Master’s Degree in Education. She dedicated 32 years to the education profession, serving as a teacher, principal, and central office administrator across Salem City, Roanoke County, and Floyd County school systems. Although her work focused on the development of both elementary and secondary students, Lois was especially known as a mentor and inspiration to new educators. Her impact across generations of teachers was immeasurable. Faith was central to Lois’s life. She was a lifelong member of Copper Hill Church of the Brethren, where she remained deeply rooted in her Christian beliefs and community. Lois found joy in the simple and beautiful things in life. She had a deep love for gardening, especially roses, and later in life enjoyed bird watching. She appreciated art, particularly collecting works by P. Buckley Moss, and was actively involved in fundraising for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. She was also an avid sports fan who enjoyed football and cheering for Jeff Gordon in NASCAR. Unbeknownst to many, Lois loved evaluating real estate and providing counsel to Danny, Sr. As a testament to her heart, she always related that these decisions would impact her cherished granddaughters for years to come. She will be especially remembered for her witty spirit, warm personality, and ability to bring a smile to those around her, even in difficult times. “The Hallmark Channel” brought her great peace and evoked many smiles, as she always raved that “.... every story always ended on a good note.” Lois was also deeply appreciated and loved by her many caregivers, whose compassion and dedication brought comfort to her and her family. Above all, Lois will be remembered for her kind heart, dedication to others, and unwavering commitment to education and family. Burial will follow at Wilson’s Cemetery.4 She was buried at Wilson Cemetery, Daniel's Run Road (Rt. 661), Locust Grove, Floyd Co., Virginia.4 She was born on June 21, 1938 at Check, Floyd Co., Virginia.1,3,4 She married Daniel Lee Board Sr., son of Henry Parrott Board and Nellie Mae Hale, on May 6, 1960 at Floyd Co., Virginia.1,7,8,4 As of May 6, 1960,her married name was Board.
