She was the executive secretary of The American Red Cross in Galveston for 32 years. She resigned from The Red Cross in 1951 and afterwards was employed by the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston until her retirement in 1962. She was a member of The First Presbyterian Church and was active in many local civic and cultural organizations including the Galveston Historical Foundation, Friends of The Rosenberg Library, Galveston Art League, The Cultural Arts Center, American Association of Social Workers, Beta Study Club and Colonial Dames of America. Miss Girardeau is survived by her sister, Dorothy Girardeau; two nephews, Commander L.B. Clapham Jr. (retired) of San Rafael, Calif., and James W. Girardeau Sr. of Baytown; two great-nieces, Ann Elizabeth Girardeau and Dorothy Jean Girardeau of Baytown; and one great-nephew, James W. Girardeau Jr. of Austin. on September 14, 1990.2

Partlow, 93-year-old grandmother of State Attorney General Price Daniel and Liberty county's oldest native citizen, died at her home yesterday after an illness of four weeks. Born in a log cabin on a grant received by her grandfather, H. E. Johnston, from the Mexican goverment, Mrs. Partlow had lived all her life in Liberty county. During her girlhood, because of limited school afcilities, she received most of her schooling in Ball high school at Galveston, making the trip between the two cities by boat on the Trinty river. Ellen Beard Partlow, wife of William Samuel Partlow. She was the daughter of A.J. Interment will follow at the Daniel Family Cemetery on F. M. 1011 in Liberty. Houston Daniel was born on July 1, 1945, in Lexington, Rockbridge County, Virginia. His parents were Price and Jean Houston Baldwin Daniel. He was the great-great-great grandson of Sam Houston, who was also born in Rockbridge County, Virginia. Houston graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1963. He graduated from Baylor University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree, in 1967. After receiving his undergraduate degree, Houston served in the Army National Guard before receiving his Doctor of Jurisprudence from The University of Texas School of Law in 1971. He practiced law and owned a rare book store in Austin until he moved back home to Liberty in 1978, where he practiced law for over 40 years. On March 20, 1976, he married Charlotte Whitehurst in a wedding ceremony performed at Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church in Houston. Later this month, they would have celebrated 43 years of marriage. They are the proud parents of 2 sons, Timothy Houston and John Price Daniel. As the owners of the historic Liberty Depot building, Houston and Charlotte have been ardent supporters of historic preservation and numerous other causes in the Liberty community. He was a charter member of the Atascosito Historical Society, and he held memberships with the Texas State Historical Association, Friends of the U. S. Fish & Wildlife Service Trinity River National Wildlife Refuge, Friends of the Liberty Municipal Library, Bryan Museum in Galveston, Bullock Texas State History Museum, Preservation Texas, Texas Freedom Network, and numerous other civic organizations, clubs, and societies with missions to preserve history and improve communities. In 1992, Governor Ann Richards appointed Houston to the Sam Houston Bicentennial Celebration Commission, and his fellow members elected him Chairman. Houston was preceded in death by his parents, Price and Jean Houston Baldwin Daniel, and his brothers, Price Daniel, Jr. and John Baldwin Daniel. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Daniel, their sons John Price Daniel and Timothy Houston Daniel, his wife, Kenda Bing Daniel, and their son, Jonah Baumgarten. He is also survived by his sister, Jean Daniel Murph, her husband, Dr. David R. Murph, and their children, Marilyn Jean Murph and Daniel William Murph. Houston was also survived by 11 additional nieces and nephews, numerous great-nieces and nephews, and a host of cousins and lifelong friends. Houston was affectionately known as “Hootie” by his family and friends. He also attended Montreat-Anderson College, Montreat, North Carolina, where he was employed at the L. Nelson Bell Library. Mr. Daniel was the author of THIS POOR MAN CRIED, A Collection of Devotionals on Psalm 34, and he served as a contributing writer for the Citizen's Advocate, Coppell, Texas. He was a member of the Black Mountain Kiwanis Club and a charter member of the Atascosito Historical Society, the support organization for the Sam Houston Regional Library and Research Center in Liberty. A devout Christian, Mr. Daniel was a member of the Montreat Presbyterian Church and was a regular visitor to The First United Methodist Church, Liberty. He was preceded in death by his father, Price Daniel, and his brother, Price Daniel, Jr. He is survived by his mother, Jean Baldwin Daniel, of Liberty; his sister, Jean Daniel Murph and her husband David R. Murph, of Grapevine; his brother, Houston Daniel and his wife Charlotte Daniel, of Liberty; his niece, Marilyn Jean Murph, of Austin; and his nephews, Daniel William Murph of Nolensville, Tennessee, Thomas Houston Daniel of Austin, Franklin Baldwin Daniel of Cypress, Timothy Houston Daniel of The Woodlands, Marion Price Daniel IV of Austin, and John Price Daniel of Liberty. He is also survived by a host of cousins, and many friends. Casket bearers will be Marilyn Jean Murph, Daniel William Murph, Thomas Houston Daniel, Franklin Baldwin Daniel, Timothy Houston Daniel, Marion Price Daniel IV, John Price Daniel, Maury Scobee, Jay L.
