     Opal Irene Mills Our sweet mother, Opal Mills Lynch Bowman, age 85, of Pilot Mountain, NC, went to be with her Lord on April 18, 2015 at her home. She was born on July 24, 1929 in Patrick County, VA to the late Joseph Mills and Odessa Boles Mills. Opal took pride in her job as an aid on a handicap school bus and retired from Surry Industries. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed growing beautiful flowers. Mrs. Bowman leaves a legacy through her son, James Ronnie Lynch and wife, Vicky; her daughter, Linda Lynch Chilton and husband, Larry; three step-children, Ruby Hill and husband, Herbert, Mary Ellen Corn, and Mac Bowman and wife, Shirley; two daughter-in-laws, Libby Lynch and Robin Lynch; ten grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a special “Sissy”, Magalene Hiatt. Opal also leaves behind her faithful feline companion, Tom. In 1946 she married Eugene Lynch, who passed away in 1975. Later she married Harden Bowman, who predeceased her. In addition, she was predeceased by her parents; a son, Delmo Eugene Lynch; a brother, John F. Mills; two sisters, Virginia Flippin and Barbara Gwyn; and two grandchildren, Noel Chilton and Eddie Dale Lynch. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Cox-Needham Funeral Home at 2:00 P.M. with Elder Lacy Gates and Elder J.H. Keaton officiating. Interment will follow at Brims Grove Baptist Church.      Larry Cline Chilton Larry Cline Chilton, age 68, of Surry County, NC, passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2017, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born on August 21, 1948, in Surry County, NC to the late Dewey Elbert Chilton and Bertha Jessup Chilton. He served his country proudly in the Vietnam War. He retired from the Department of Transportation in 2000 after serving 30 years. He had a passion for gardening and traveling. He was also an avid collector of tractors. He loved his family dearly. He was a proud Papa to his grandchildren. He will be sorely missed by all that knew him, as well as his three fur babies: Lincoln, Lexie, and Fancy. Mr. Chilton is survived by his loving wife, Linda Lynch Chilton; a son, Adam Christian (Lisa) Chilton; a daughter-in-law, Chelle Chilton; three grandchildren: Jordan Chilton, Gabriella Chilton, and Devin Chilton; two brothers: Roland (Imogene) Chilton and Otis (Carole) Chilton; and two sisters, Betty Marsh and Judy (Jimmy) Melton. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Noel Anthony Chilton; two brothers: Paul Chilton and Hollis Chilton; and two sisters: Helen Hunter and Avanel Smith. A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at Cox-Needham Funeral Home at 2 PM with Rev. Gerald Jones officiating. Libby as she was known to everyone passed away peacefully at her home, Libby held many many degrees which she obtained at numerous institutions Surry Community College where she graduated Valedictorian, Gardner Webb University and Winston Salem State University where she graduated both with honors. She enjoyed a wonderful career as a social worker for Hospice. She was a great inspiration to so many that had the pleasure of knowing her, Libby was a one of a kind full of spunk and so much fight which she used until the end fighter her cancer. Her wit was contagious she made everyone laugh and smile, her love was boundless for those she cared for she would give her last dime to make them happy. This world was a much happier place with her in it. Heaven rejoices with her coming. She will be forever remembered by her children. Her son Eric Lynch of Pilot Mtn. Mrs. Mills is survived by two children, Karen Cowdrey (Robert) of Claudville and Joseph Mills (Rosa) of Greenville, North Carolina; two grandsons, John Mills of Fresno, California and Andrew Mills of Greenville, North Carolina; five siblings, Ann Martin of Lawsonville, North Carolina, Ruth Simmons of Greensboro, North Carolina, Evalene Crowder of Chatham, Virginia, Charles Collins of King, North Carolina, and Bobby Collins of Madison, North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
