Albert Burney Cannaday, 62, died of an apparent heart attack suffered while driving his car yesterday. Cannaday, of 517 Highland Ave., S.W., was headed west on Persinger road, SW, about 3 p.m. At the intersection of Brambleton avenue his car left the road, struck a telephone pole, and continued across Brambleton onto West drive, where it finally stopped in a driveway in the 1400 block. An ambulance took Cannaday to a hospital, but he was dead on arival. Dr. Charles M. Irvin, city medical examiner, said Cannaday apparently died of natural death due to heart failure. Shortly before his death, Cannaday had been planting flowers at a friend's home and complained of a pain in his chest. Cannaday, a city employee for 35 years, came to work in the engineering department in 1924 and became a deputy city sergeant in 1944. A native of Roanoke and a World War I veteran, he was also known as one of Roanoke's first weather reporters. Survinging are two sons, Albert A. and Richard Cannaday, formerly of Roanoke; two brothers, Alvin G. and Paul A. Cannaday, both of Roanoke: and one sister, Mrs. Harry Nichols of Norfolk. The funeral will be conducted tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. at Oakey's by the Rev. J.E. Stockman. Burial will be in Fairview. on May 29, 1959.3

Street, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake Co., Utah.1 She was born on February 6, 1935 at Madison, Dane Co., Wisconsin.2,3,1 She married Richard Eugene Cannaday, son of Albert Burney Cannaday and Christine Catherine Coleman, on December 21, 1964 at Pasadena, Los Angeles Co., California.1 As of December 21, 1964,her married name was Cannaday.1 Sondra Lees died on July 1, 2013 at Utah at age 78.3,1 She Sondra Lees Cannaday, our beautiful, sweet, loving wife, mother, grammie, sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully on July 1, 2013 at the age of 78 after a 15 year battle with Alzheimer's. Sondra was born on February 6, 1935 in Madison, Wisconsin to her loving parents C. Lowell and Georgiana Taylor Lees. She was one of 3 children. She cherished her parents, brother and sister more than they could ever imagine. Her family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah so her father could become the head of the Pioneer Memorial Theater at the University of Utah. This is where she developed her love for the theater. She graduated from East High School. She earned her bachelors degree in Fine Arts and her Masters in Theater at the University of Utah. She later earned her teaching certificate. She taught English, Speech and Drama in the Weber and Salt Lake City School District for 20 years. She loved directing plays and teaching her students to act. Her favorite plays were Cheaper by the Dozen and the Secret Garden. She retired from Bryant Intermediate and has missed teaching ever since. She married the love of her life, Richard E. Cannaday on December 21, 1964 in Pasadena, CA. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together they had a son, daughter and stepdaughter. She loved her family to the fullest and cherished the time she got to play with her grandchildren. Sondra had many talents and hobbies. She loved to travel and was an incredible seamstress. She loved making marionette puppets with her husband and doing puppet shows for many children to love. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she held many callings. She had a great love for the Lord, a deep testimony and extraordinary faith. Sondra was an amazing, brave woman that endured many illnesses in her lifetime and through it all she always had her beautiful smile. We would like to thank North Canyon Care Center and Vista Hospice for all the love and care they gave her for so many years. Sondra is survived by her husband, son Rich (Pam) Cannaday, daughter Kimberly (Keith) Gulbransen, and stepdaughter Ann (Jeff) Sanders SLC. Her brother Taylor (Janet) Lees, WA, and sister Cissie (Tony) Burbank, SLC. Eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, grandson Maxwell Gulbransen and nephew David Lees. Sondra's services will be held Monday, July 8, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary at 260 E. South Temple in Salt Lake City. Friends may call Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Larkin Mortuary and at 11:00 a.m. prior to her funeral. Interment at Salt Lake City Cemetery. on July 6, 2013.1
