Sheldon graduated from Turner Ashby High School in 1984 and enlisted in the Navy. He was employed with Crossmark Sales, where he worked locally as well as Lynchburg and Johnson City, Tenn. In his leisure time, Sheldon liked reading, collecting cards and working on his model train set. He was a member of the Augusta County Model Railroad Club. Surviving are his companion and caregiver, Benita Shumate of Harrisonburg; his brother, Steve A. Puffenbarger of Harrisonburg; and one niece and two nephews. A funeral service officiated by the Rev. Danny Herring will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, March 26, 2015, at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. on March 23, 2015.²
