He operated a saw mill and was an active farmer until age 90. He was a longtime member of St. Peters Episcopal Church and an active supporter of the Phoebe Needles Center where the Webb Lodge is named in honor of him and his wife. He was born March 3, 1914, to the late John Thomas and Mattie Mason Webb. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, William and Odell Webb; sister, Carrie Guilliams; and son-in-law, Karl Flora. Surviving are his wife of 72 years, Lura Richards Webb; sons, Donald and wife, Dorothy Webb, of Rocky Mount, and Ronald and wife, Deborah Webb, of Callaway; daughter, Patricia Flora, of Fairfax; grandchildren, Donna Webb, of Nashville, Nicole Rayle, of Greensboro, Kyle Flora (Meghan), of Broadway, and Kevin Flora (Jennifer), of Reston; great-granddaughter, Natalie Flora; and sisters, Mildred Guilliams, of Danville, Eva Agee and Lottie Walters, both of Callaway; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Phoebe Needles Center, 730 Turners Creek Road, Callaway, Va. 24067. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, June 26, 2008, from St. Peters Episcopal Church with the Rev. John Heck officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. His family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at Flora Funeral Service, Rocky Mount, Va. on June 25, 2008.3

     Jay Hugh Hodges Jay Hugh Hodges, Sep 5, 1942 - Mar 6, 2025. On March 6th, 2025, Jay Hugh Hodges "Papa" passed away peacefully with his wife, Linda Hodges, by his side. Jay was known for his hard work, love for his family, and love for baseball and his favorite team, the Yankees (or anyone his kids or grandkids played for). Jay retired from Kroger after 30 years of hard work and dedication. Jay also had a strong love for his Lord being a lifelong member of Oak Grove Church of the Brethren in Rocky Mount, Virginia. Jay is preceded in death by his mother and father, Mable and Lester Hodges, and brother and sister, Earl Hodges and Leavona Overfelt. He is survived by his wife, Linda Hodges, brother, Ricky Hodges, children, Donna Cooper (Jackie), Darren Hodges (Rosemary), stepchildren Brent Huffman (Beverly), and Sean Huffman (Laura). He is also survived by his grandchildren Corey Fitzgerald (Scarlett), India Davidson (Matt), Javin Metz (Whitney), Dalton Hodges, Abby Hodges (Nick), and step grandchild DiLaina Huffman (Bret) and by his great-grandchildren Lucas and Liam Davidson, Beau Metz, and Isabella Fitzgerald, plus several nieces and nephews. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Rita Roberts for her compassionate care to Jay during the last year. The family would also like to say thank you for his wonderful care at Heritage Hall.3 He was born on September 5, 1942 at Franklin Co., Virginia.2,3 He married Rebecca Jean "Becky" Holt, daughter of James William "Bill" Holt and Margaret Estelle Guilliams, on April 12, 1963 at Franklin Co., Virginia.1 Jay Hugh Hodges died on March 6, 2025 at Virginia at age 82.3

     Jerry Lynn Bowles was buried at Fairmont Baptist Church Cemetery, intersection of Rt. 643 & Rt. 739, Franklin Co., Virginia.4 He was born on June 8, 1951 at Franklin Co., Virginia.2,3 He married Pauline Pearl Gardner on December 16, 1972 at Boones Mill, Franklin Co., Virginia.2 Jerry Lynn Bowles died on October 30, 2015 at Virginia at age 64.4 He Jerry Lynn Bowles, 64, of Callaway, joined our Heavenly Father on Friday, October 30, 2015. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, David Bowles. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Pauline Bowles; daughter, Jennifer Burtch (Joe); mother, Elsie G. Bowles; brothers, John Phillip Bowles (Carol), Mitchell Lee Bowles (Wanda), Larry Allen Bowles, Mark Stephen Bowles, Kevin Dale Bowles, Jeffrey Dean Bowles; sisters, Joyce Marie Waldron (Glenn), Judy Ann Saul (Lewis), Carolyn Montgomery (Rex), Melissa Heath (Kevin); and many other loving family members and friends. Those who knew Jerry saw his quiet but strong nature and he almost always had a smile on his face. He was retired from Hancock/Millenium Steel and was known there as a great supervisor. He was also an avid hunter and gardener. He will be missed by so many who loved and respected him. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m., Monday, November 2, 2015 from Fairmont Baptist Church with Pastor Leonard Castleman officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. on November 1, 2015.4
