Pruitt (should be Pruett), 76, of Hardy, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2015 from injuries sustained in a car accident. He was predeceased by his parents, Blane and Lillie Pruett; brother, Buddy Pruett and son, Larry Pruett. Surviving family includes brothers, Barry Pruett (Lois), and Auther Pruett (Catherine); sister, Wanda Moore (John); Mildred C. Pruett; daughters, Linda Markley (Phillip), Susan Hayth (Kevin Lapradd), and Tammy Patterson (Terry), and grandchildren, Cory and Dustin Tapia, Bridget Markley, Derick Pruett, Chris Hayth and Justin and Mattea Patterson. on June 29, 2015.⁴

     Herman Anderson DeHart Herman Anderson DeHart, 83, of Salem, passed away on Friday, August 11, 2017. Herman was born on Friday, September 29, 1933, in Altavista. He worked for Elliott Buick and Royal Buick for many years as an auto technician. His church membership was held at Bethel Baptist Church in Salem, and was also a member of its Maranatha Sunday School class. He enjoyed sports, fishing, woodworking, and his garden. He was also a faithful bowler with the Lee-Hi Seniors Bowling League. Preceding him in death were his parents, W. Alvis and Edith DeHart; and his first wife, Marlene Ellis DeHart. His surviving family includes his wife of 36 years, Joyce C. DeHart, Salem; children and their spouses, Susan and Corkey Bowles, Salem, Rev. Duane and Mary Lou Dehart, Fredericksburg, and Robert and Peggy Underwood, Roanoke; grandchildren, Courtney Bowles, Christopher Bowles, Amber Phelps, Taylor DeHart, Claire DeHart, Kelsey Underwood and fiancé, Andy Sulser, and Wesley Underwood; great-grandson, Elijah Phelps-Bowles; brother, Leon DeHart and wife, Margie; sisters-in-law, Mildred Pruett, Margaret (Peggy) Gray, Marie Collins, Judy McDaniel and husband, Russell, and Gladys Beckner and husband, Gary; brothers-in-law, Melvin Collins and wife, Helen, and Lionel Ellis; and many extended family members, friends, and neighbors. The family extends special thanks to the staff at Richfield Rehab for all of their caring and support during this difficult time. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in the Givens Funeral Chapel, Pearisburg, with the Rev. Jesse Kearns officiating and burial in the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Hoges Chapel, Va. Friends may call at the Givens Funeral Home Sunday evening from 6 to 8. on November 29, 1992.¹

Surviving family include daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara R. and Daniel Smith and Phyllis M. and Robert Colley; son and daughter-in-law, Morris W. and Christine Wickham; brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Algie N. Fulton; sisters and brother-in-law, Ruth E. Roberts, Claudine B. Ellis and Esterlene M. and Eddie C.
