Warren Allen Richard Warren Allen Richard, March 28, 1931 - December 23, 2018. Warren Allen Richard, 87, passed away at his home in Springfield, Va., on Dec. 23, 2018. He was predeceased by his eldest son, Kenneth Dale Richard, who passed away on Nov. 12, 2016, from stomach cancer, and by his parents, Eunice Woolwine and Clarence Richard. Warren was born on March 28, 1931, in Floyd County, Va. He met the love of his life, Rheba, in high school, and they married in 1950, over 68 years ago. They shared a deep, amazing love they professed to each other daily, and there was nothing he would not do or sacrifice for her. His dying wish was to ensure she continues to receive the love and care he had given her throughout their lives together. Warren joined the U.S. Navy in 1951 and served until 1955. Upon his honorable discharge, he entered the trucking industry, first with Brooks and then Hemingway before a long and successful career with Estes Express Lines (1969 to 1997). Warren began as an office manager, moving up through the company to retire as a member of the national sales team. His success was rooted in his work ethic – doing whatever needed to be done, including everything from driving the tractor trailers when they were down a driver to walking miles in blowing snow to help dig out the trucks. Warren took up golf in his mid-30s. He loved the game and continued to play on a regular basis until a few years ago. After retirement from the trucking industry, he spent a lot of time, both working and playing golf, at Greendale Golf Course in Alexandria, Va. To his neighbors, he was known as the "go-to" guy for practically everything: helping youngsters with their homework, taking over Mr. Handyman duties for the not-so-young and being a great resource and friend to everyone in between. He was also an active member of the Franconia United Methodist Church from 1970 until his death. Warren was the most caring, kind, gentle, generous, patient and loving person most people will ever meet. Not only was he the best husband ever, he was a great dad, grandfather and great grandfather – or, as the grandkids called him, "Big Daddy." Although he was known to be rather quiet, he was very witty and had a teasing sense of humor he passed on to his kids and grandkids. He will be sorely missed by many. He is survived by his wife, Rheba Richard; children, Debra, Larry (Terri) and the late Kenneth Richard (Judy Johnson); brother, Cletis Richard; grandchildren, Christopher Richard, Justin Richard (Ronnie), Heather Dudney (John), and Thomas Richard; and great grandson, Charles Dudney. Interment will take place at Quantico National Cemetery.2 He was buried at Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Road (Route 619), Triangle, Prince William Co., Virginia.2,10,3 He was born on March 28, 1931 at Floyd Co., Virginia.1,2,10,3,4 He married Rheba Iris Wimmer, daughter of Thomas Flemmington "Flem" Wimmer and Hattie F. Kenneth Dale Richard Kenneth Dale Richard, 64, passed away at his home in Richmond Hill, GA on November 12, 2016 after a near 3 year battle with stomach cancer. Ken was born May 21, 1952 in Roanoke, VA. After serving in the Air Force during the Vietnam era, Ken spent much of his work career in the automotive industry including Ford, Nissan and Mercedes-Benz. He was an integral part of the startup of both the Nissan plant in Tennessee and the Mercedes-Benz plant in Alabama. The construction of JCB’s new backhoe manufacturing facility brought him to Savannah in 1999. At the time of his death Ken was a Senior Director with Terex Corporation, a heavy equipment manufacturer, where he was instrumental in implementing improved manufacturing business processes around the world. Ken was passionate about his work, loved helping others and had a unique ability to develop systems to solve complicated problems and processes. In his free time Ken was an avid golfer which made Myrtle Beach his favorite vacation spot with all its golf courses; however, he loved almost all sports. He could compete with the best on the basketball court and serve a pretty mean tennis ball! Jimmy Buffett was his favorite musician with Zach Brown and Darius Rucker following close behind. He read more e-books than we could possibly count – thank goodness for Steve Jobs and the iPad. Time with family and friends was very important to Ken. Since his diagnosis with cancer, Ken saw his son Thomas graduate from college, his daughter Heather get married and the birth of his precious grandson Charles (who is now almost 8 months old). He is survived by his life partner, Judy Johnson of Richmond Hill, GA; his daughter Heather Dudney and husband John of Tampa, FL; his son Thomas Richard of Atlanta, GA; his parents Warren and Rheba Richard of Springfield, VA; his brother Larry Richard and wife Terri of Springfield, VA; his sister Debbie Richard of Los Angeles, CA; nephews Chris Richard of Jacksonville, FL and Justin Richard and husband Ronnie Jolley of Coram, NY; and grandson Charles (Charlie) Dudney.4 He was born on May 21, 1952 at Roanoke, Virginia.2,3,4 He married Janice Kay Dawson on September 6, 1975 at Pulaski Co., Arkansas.2 Kenneth Dale Richard died on November 12, 2016 at Richmond Hill, Richmond Co., Georgia, at age 64.1,4
