She was a member of Payneton United Methodist Church and enjoyed her work in the church, and loved spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her son, Harold Wayne (Jackie) Yates of Chatham; a grandchild, Kim (Charles) Blair of Chatham; a great-grandchild, Jennifer Blair; special nieces and nephews, Nancie Motley of Chatham, Carlton (Betty) Morton of Chatham and Charles (Francis) Morton of Manhattan, Kansas; and numerous other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Heather Blair Yeatts; and a sister, Vera Matherly. Funeral services will be conducted at Scott Funeral Home on Monday, October 27, 2014, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. George Hatmaker and the Rev. Mikel Pugh officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Burial Park. The family will receive friends at Scott Funeral Home on Sunday October 26, 2014, from 3 until 4 p.m. and at other times will be at the residence, 217 Whittle St., Chatham, Va. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Payneton United Methodist Church, 1160 Payneton Rd., Chatham, VA 24531.
