Carolyn Lee Graham was born on October 16, 1947 at Roanoke, Virginia.3,4,5,6 As of June 27, 1970,her married name was Balthis.4 She married Frank Wilson Balthis Jr. on June 27, 1970 at Roanoke, Virginia.4,6 Carolyn Lee Graham and Frank Wilson Balthis Jr. were divorced on June 8, 1979 at Roanoke, Virginia.5 Carolyn Lee Graham died on December 26, 2021 at Exeter, Rockingham Co., New Hampshire, at age 74.6 She Carolyn Lee (Graham) Balthis, 74, passed away peacefully in Exeter, N.H., on December 26, 2021, with her daughter by her side. Carolyn was born in Roanoke, Va., on October 16, 1947, to Charles and Iris Graham. Five years later she became a big sister to her lifelong best friend, Tim Graham. She grew up in Garden City, was an active member of Garden City Church of the Nazarene, loved theater, and dreamed of being a French teacher. She attended Jefferson High School, graduating in 1966. After 2 years at Virginia Western Community College, in 1968 she was hired as a bank teller at Colonial American National Bank. She married Frank Balthis Jr. in 1970 and gave birth to a daughter, Christy (Balthis) Draheim, in 1975, they divorced in 1978. She worked at the bank for 33 years, persisting through its mergers into Crestar, then SunTrust. She worked her way up from teller to Assistant Vice President and Branch Manager of the Tanglewood and Towers Branches. She took early retirement from SunTrust in 2001 due to disability. She took full advantage of her retirement, serving in several capacities at Virginia Heights Baptist Church, including Deacon and Sunday School Teacher of the Philathea Class; traveling overseas with her daughter, going on mission trips to Grenada and Kenya, helping raise her two great-nieces, whom she thought of as her own grandchildren, and working with her brother to landscape her yard into a floral paradise. She moved away from Roanoke in 2014 for the first time in her life, to live with her daughter and son-in-law in Connecticut, then moved with them to New Hampshire in 2015. She was ecstatic to welcome her only grandson, Ben Draheim, in 2017 and relished her role as Grammy. Her health having declined in the past few years, she spent the pandemic in Exeter Center Nursing Home in Exeter, N.H., only seeing her family standing six feet away through a window screen while wearing a mask. Thanks to loosened restrictions she was able to celebrate her grandson's fourth birthday in her room in November 2021, just one day before she fell ill. Carolyn was cremated and her ashes will be scattered along her favorite beach on Hatteras Island, N.C. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Lewis "Moonie" Graham (1997) and Iris Madeline (Dobbins) Graham (2000), and brother, Timothy Wayne Graham (2013). She is survived by her daughter, Andrea Christine "Christy" (Balthis) Draheim (Shane) of Hampstead, N.H; step-granddaughter, Alexis Cheryl Draheim of Hampstead, N.H; grandson, Reuben Timothy "Ben" Draheim of Hampstead, N.H; niece, Shannon Marie (Graham) Lucas of Roanoke Va; two great-nieces, Alyssa Madeline (Lucas) Kuehn and Abigail Marie Lucas, both of Roanoke, Va; an uncle and many cousins. on July 3, 2022.6
