Born June 6, 1926, at Page, he was the son of the late Vance and Ethel May Reese Carper. A daughter, Deborah Carper; stepson, Kenny Kincaid; sisters, Emma Lou Kinnear and Donnie Paloma; brothers, Vance ?Buddy? Carper and Jimmy Carper; and a nephew, Brian Carper, also preceded him in death. Mr. Carper was a member of Kincaid First Church of God. Frank was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, having been involved in the first atomic bomb experiment "Operation Crossroads" on the USS Dixie, Bikini Atoll, in 1946 in the Marshall Islands.
Surviving: his wife of 39 years, Marjorie Lee Waugh Carper; stepson, Raymond Belmont and wife, Belinda, of Ingram Branch; sons, Frank "Fuzzy" Carper and wife, Chris, of Canton, Ohio, and Danny Carper of Chicago, Ill; sisters, Jerline Morris of Wake Forest, N.C., Sarah Peters and husband, Denny, of Kincaid, and Shirley Kincaid and husband, Don, of Mentor, Ohio; 12 grandchildren, Mike Belmont of Nashville, Tenn., Keith Belmont, Gary Belmont and Doug Belmont, all of Oak Hill, Cami Suzza and husband, Jack, of Fayetteville, Jamie and Allison Carper, both of Canton, Deborah, Steven and Nina Carper, all of Chicago, and Dexter Thompson and Doug Kenney, both of Oak Hill; and great-grandchildren, Zachary, Jonathan, Nickolas, Kristen, Destiny, Kimmie and Caleb. Service was June 29 at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, with the Rev. Eugene Morris officiating. Burial followed in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. He was past vice president and member of the Civilian Conservation Corps of Richwood and was a Red Cross volunteer. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Shockey Smith; a son, Keith A. Smith of Beckley; a brother, Calvin Smith of Oak Hill; three sisters, Helen Ball of Beckwith, Mildred Smith of Fayetteville, Route 2 and Anna Smith in Delaware, and one grandson. Yoshiko became an American citizen in 1956 and was very proud of her citizenship and never missed an election. Yoshiko finished high school in Oita, Japan, and graduated from Design and Fashion and Dressmaking School in Tokyo. She had worked for the Diamond Department Store in the bridal department. She also did private seamstress work for many prominient Charleston citizens. She was a member of Fairview UM Church, Kanawha Valley Christian Women's Association, Carbide Ladies Golf League, Carbide Bowling Leaague and the Nitro Senior and excercise group. Yoshiko was also preceded in death by her brother, Shoichi Hata. Mrs. Shockey is survived by her husband, Paul; son and wife, Paul Jr. and Pam Shockey of Cross Lanes; daughter and husband, Kay and Ray Little of Fairbanks, Alaska; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Takuko Hata of Osaka, Japan; and several nieces and nephews. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens. on March 10, 2013.¹

Shockey, on October 14, 1947 at Garten, Fayette Co., West Virginia.^1,2 Marjorie M. Cody died on March 11, 2018 at LaGrange, Lorain Co., Ohio, at age 88.² She Marjorie M. Holstein (nee Cody), 88, of Grafton, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Keystone Pointe in LaGrange. She was born December 7, 1929 in Fayette County, West Virginia. Marjorie worked for Timms Spring Company for 40 years as a machine operator. She was a member of East Broad Street Church of Christ. Marjorie enjoyed attending church functions, gardening and especially her family. Survivors include her daughter, Bonnie Holstein of Elyria; sons, Ted (Rhonda) Holstein of Grafton and Donald "Blaine" (Betty) Holstein, Jr. of Elyria; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.      Helen Jane Holstein was buried at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 1080 Sunrise Beach Road, Crownsville, Anne Arundel Co., Maryland.⁵ Her married name was Boyko.⁵ She married Alexander William "Alex" Boyko.^5,6 Helen Jane Holstein was born on March 30, 1927 at Fayetteville, Fayette Co., West Virginia.^4,5 She Helen Jane Boyko, 93, a 20-year resident of Catonsville, MD and previously of Arbutus, MD, died at Spa Creek Center in Annapolis, MD on Friday, May 15, 2020. Born March 30, 1927, in Fayetteville, WV to the late Clarence and Lena Holstein, she was in the 1945 graduation class at Fayetteville High School. Helen worked at her family’s grocery business until 1974, then went to work at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company until her retirement in 1989. In retirement, she cared for her husband, Alex, who had dementia until his death in 1994. Helen enjoyed cooking, baking, scouring ?ea markets, cake decorating, sewing, and calligraphy. In addition to her parents and husband of 48 years, she was preceded in death by ?ve siblings, David, Gene, Donald, Clarence, Jr., and Jerry. Helen is survived by three children, Michael Boyko of Catonsville, MD, Lee (Linda) Boyko of Hanover, MD, and Sylvia (Jim) Stafford of Evergreen, CO; three siblings, Steve Holstein of Mt. Hope, WV, Betty Christian of Zanesville, OH, and Sandy Maynor of Mt. Hope, WV; two grandchildren, Craig and Matthew Boyko; and seven great-grandchildren. Helen will be interred with her husband at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville. on March 24, 2020.⁵ She died on May 15, 2020 at Annapolis, Anne Arundel Co., Maryland, at age 93.⁵
