Surviving: his wife of 39 years, Marjorie Lee Waugh Carper; stepson, Raymond Belmont and wife, Belinda, of Ingram Branch; sons, Frank "Fuzzy" Carper and wife, Chris, of Canton, Ohio, and Danny Carper of Chicago, Ill; sisters, Jerline Morris of Wake Forest, N.C., Sarah Peters and husband, Denny, of Kincaid, and Shirley Kincaid and husband, Don, of Mentor, Ohio; 12 grandchildren, Mike Belmont of Nashville, Tenn., Keith Belmont, Gary Belmont and Doug Belmont, all of Oak Hill, Cami Suzza and husband, Jack, of Fayetteville, Jamie and Allison Carper, both of Canton, Deborah, Steven and Nina Carper, all of Chicago, and Dexter Thompson and Doug Kenney, both of Oak Hill; and great-grandchildren, Zachary, Jonathan, Nickolas, Kristen, Destiny, Kimmie and Caleb. Service was June 29 at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, with the Rev. Eugene Morris officiating. Burial followed in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. She was a member of Fairview UM Church, Kanawha Valley Christian Women's Association, Carbide Ladies Golf League, Carbide Bowling Leaague and the Nitro Senior and excercise group. Yoshiko was also preceded in death by her brother, Shoichi Hata. Mrs. Shockey is survived by her husband, Paul; son and wife, Paul Jr. and Pam Shockey of Cross Lanes; daughter and husband, Kay and Ray Little of Fairbanks, Alaska; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Takuko Hata of Osaka, Japan; and several nieces and nephews. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens. on March 10, 2013.1

In retirement, she cared for her husband, Alex, who had dementia until his death in 1994. Helen enjoyed cooking, baking, scouring ?ea markets, cake decorating, sewing, and calligraphy. In addition to her parents and husband of 48 years, she was preceded in death by ?ve siblings, David, Gene, Donald, Clarence, Jr., and Jerry. Helen is survived by three children, Michael Boyko of Catonsville, MD, Lee (Linda) Boyko of Hanover, MD, and Sylvia (Jim) Stafford of Evergreen, CO; three siblings, Steve Holstein of Mt. Hope, WV, Betty Christian of Zanesville, OH, and Sandy Maynor of Mt. Hope, WV; two grandchildren, Craig and Matthew Boyko; and seven great-grandchildren.
