Surviving is her daughter, Chelsae Barrett (Jakob), grandson, Wesley Barrett; brother, Jeff Greer; Special aunt, Carol Laprad; niece, Hillary Long (Sam); nephew, Seth Greer; special friend, Debbie Stokes (Jim); her OCC family; many friends; and her special pup, Jax. on March 24, 2023.2

William Douglas Hackett William Douglas "Chip" Hackett, 61, of Fincastle, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, surrounded by his family after battling Glioblastoma brain cancer. Chip graduated from William Byrd High School, Class of 1977. He worked at CEI for over 20 years and most recently at Salem VA Medical Center. Chip was fondly known as "The Hackman" and never met a stranger. He loved riding his Harley, hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Peggy Hackett and his sister, Lynette Coulter. Left to cherish his memory is his former wife, Tonia Hackett; their daughter, Chelsae Barrett (Jakob); grandson, Wesley; brother, Dean (Cheryl); brother-in-law, Mark Coulter; nephews, Corey, Chris (Tasha); and two great-nephews, Ethan and Oliver. Many close friends include Bobby Riley, Calvin Mitchell, Frank Hubbard and Paul Nester, and his faithful ever-present animal companions, Louie and Buddy. The family would like to thank his caregivers, Jeanette Buchanan, Melissa Wood and Anesa Vugdalic for their dedication, compassion, and kindness. W., Roanoke, Virginia.3 He was born on July 25, 1932 at Roanoke, Virginia.1,2,3 He married Arlene Frances Poff, daughter of Harvey Leonard Poff and Ruby Mae Parrish, on December 22, 1980 at Roanoke, Virginia.1 Roy Lee Atkins and Arlene Frances Poff were divorced on September 29, 1986 at Roanoke, Virginia.4 Roy Lee Atkins Roy Lee Atkins, 91, passed away at home on Sunday, January 7, 2024, surrounded by his loving family, special friends, and neighbors. Roy was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. Roy was born to Frank and Katie Atkins in Roanoke, Virginia, on July 25, 1932. He attended Jefferson High School and started his thirty plus year career at White Foundry at the age of 17. After retiring from White Foundry in 1985, he pursued a career in trucking with Fuller Automotive and with Schwerman Trucking, retiring for the second time in 2006. He was preceded in death by his wife of thirty-one years, Joyce Hodges Atkins; parents, Frank and Katie Atkins; siblings, Jimmy Atkins, Christella McVey, and Ann Gross; and grandson, Jonathan Wright. He is survived by his daughters, Michelle (Bob) Yost, Sonya (Mike) Zaronsky, Catina Wright (Eddie Yeary), Sonya Mullins (Pete Aheron), and Sunnie "Nikki" (Cameron) Heflin; sixteen grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren. Roy's life is one that is described as hardworking, dedicated, loyal, fun loving, kind and compassionate. Roy attended Bonsack Baptist Church for a number of years, where he was baptized with his daughter, Michelle, in 2016. He also had a love for fishing which he enjoyed in recent years at Top Sail Island with special friends, Jody and Rhonda Smith. Roy devoted many hours in our community serving the less fortunate and donated countless hours at the Roanoke VHRC office. Special neighbors, friends, and caregivers, Gary and Danielle Foster, Steve and Libby Jones, Marie Gray, Sam Toney, Bob Ayers, Randy and Susan Ashberry, Howard and Linda McVey, Gary Smith, Dale Yopp, Mary Brubaker, and Kelsey Moe. Roy had so many special friends and neighbors. There are too many to list. The family would like to thank you all for your love and support. A special thank you for the wonderful team of caregivers, nurses and staff of Star City Health & Rehab and the Amedysis Hospice team. Regardless of the situation, Roy always had a pocket full of sunshine and shared his contagious smile with all who crossed his path. Dad, thank you for brightening all of our lives and showing us the true meaning of unconditional love. Graveside at Cedar Lawn Cemetery on Cove Road. on January 10, 1994.2 He died on January 7, 2024 at Virginia at age 91.2

Jeffrey W. Wellons was driving a 1986 Ford Thunderbird north in the southbound lanes of North Electric Road near Sheraton Drive when the vehicle struck a Mercedes sedan head-on, police said. Wellons, one of seven people hospitalized after the 1:40 a.m. accident, died at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was legally drunk, according to Roanoke County police Lt. David McMillan. Police also said Wellons was not wearing a seat belt. His two passengers also were hospitalized, as were the driver of the Mercedes and three passengers. Except for Wellons, police would not identify any of the injured or discuss their conditions. on July 12, 2005.7 He Jeffery Warren Wellons, 46, of Shawsville, died in Roanoke Memorial Hospital following a car accident on Sunday morning, July 10, 2005. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Edith Wellons. Surviving family include his children, Cheryl Dee Wellons of Atlanta, Ga., and Christie Lee Wellons of Elliston and brothers Woody Wellons of Elliston and Dell Wellons of Salem. Graveside services will be held at Sherwood Memorial Park. on July 13, 2005.3
