WILSON, Renva Margaret (Harris) of Roanoke, VA entered into the presence of the Lord on Monday, December 4, 2023 at the age of 97. She was born to the late Jerry and India Harris of Floyd, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Edward O. Wilson and siblings-Wilford Harris and J.W. Harris. Renva was a talented seamstress and enjoyed crocheting afghans for her beloved family and friends. She loved to play cards, grow tomatoes and work puzzles in her pastime. She was an active member of CommUNITY Church in Salem, VA and a devoted volunteer of The Community Christmas Store of the Roanoke Valley. Those left to cherish her memory are her children-Linda Thompson (David), Debra Slaughter and Cynthia Reynolds; as well as son in love Paul Slaughter. She was known as “Memaw” to her grandchildren-Erin Clinevell (Chad), Samantha Smith (Jimmy), Nicole DeHart (Jason), Chance Reynolds, Sarah Slaughter, Scott Slaughter and Stephanie Slaughter and precious great grandchildren-Kaydence Craig, Connor Clinevell, Kaeleb Craig, Collin Clinevell, Brayden Reynolds, Camden Reynolds, Kason Craig, Olivia Smith and Jackson Smith. She is also survived by her brother-Dillard Harris (Estalene). She will be dearly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends. The family wishes to thank South Roanoke Nursing Home and Good Samaritan Hospice for their care and services in recent months. An extra special thanks to devoted friend, Martha. She was Mrs. Phyllis Hall, 20, daughter of Montgomery County Deputy Sheriff Alfred V. Smith and Mrs. Smith. She was pronounced dead on arrival at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Hall apparently skidded on an icy spot as she was traveling west up Big Hill about five miles west of Salem, state police said. The car rolled about 75 feet down a bank after leaving the road. A workman operating a grading machine on nearby Interstate 81 said he saw the car slide off the road, roll down the bank and hit a tree. The accident occurred about 4 p.m. Besides her father and mother, she is survived by her husband, Herman C. Hall; two brothers, James R. Smith, Shawsville; Roger Smith, Cambria. on December 19, 1963.6

     Herman Cecil Hall Herman C. (H.C.) Hall, 72, of Blue Ridge, Va., passed from this life to his Heavenly home on Saturday, February 21, 2015. His family and friends helped keep him home during his final days and his loving daughter, Paula, was at his side. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis Smith Hall; his third wife, Lynn Nickols Hall; father, Leslie W. Hall Jr; mother, Josephine B. Haymaker Hall; sister, Charlotte Hall Smith; brother, Calvin Glenn Hall; special aunt, Garnette Butt; nephew, Phillip Hall; and niece, Melissa Garrett. H.C. served his country as a private in the United States Army. He retired from New River Electric Corporation after 35 years of service. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was an avid golfer. He finished his last 18 holes on January 17. He loved animals and enjoyed bird-watching. Surviving to cherish his memory are his daughter, Paula D. Hall of Midlothian; grandson, Cameron Hall-French of Midlothian; stepsons, Jeremy and Jason Nickols of Troutville; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Doris Hall of Troutville, Richard (Dickie) and Barbara Hall of Salem, Linda and Mike Sarvor of Elliston, and Deborah H. and Gordon Garrett of Elliston; sister-in-law Connie Hall of Elliston; sister, Gwyn G. (G.G.) Hall of Salem; aunt and uncle, Jan and Fred Apgar of Elliston; and many nieces and nephews. The family extends its special thanks to H.C's long-time friends and neighbors, Stan and Linda Parham. Juanita received a business degree from Washburn University where she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. She was employed by the Kansas Highway Commission and the Kansas League of Municipalities. Juanita was a secretary for American States Insurance Company for many years before retiring. She spent her retirement years caring for children at Heights of Learning Day Care in Tecumseh. She was a member of Shawnee Heights United Methodist Church. Her activities included singing in the choir and acting as the director of the Junior Choir for several years. Her love of animals was shown through her contributions to various animal welfare charities. Juanita married Roger E. Elmore on August 6, 1954 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on May 1, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Darlene and spouse Bill Lieurance and her brother, Forrest Gooch. Survivors include two daughters, Debbie (Chris) Blessing, Traci (Brandon) Smith, four grandchildren, Hannah, Dawson, Grace, Tessa and her sister-in-law, Carol Gooch. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Shawnee Heights United Methodist Church.      Reba Sherwood was buried at Overlook Cemetery, Eden, Rockingham Co., North Carolina.2 She was born on March 4, 1918 at Rockingham Co., North Carolina.3,2 As of January 25, 1963,her married name was Elmore.4 She married Dr. William Henry Book Elmore, son of James Robert Elmore and Mattie Pearl Elmore, on January 25, 1963 at Guilford Co., North Carolina.1,2,4 Reba Sherwood died on July 5, 2009 at Eden, Rockingham Co., North Carolina, at age 91.3,2 She STONEVILLE - Reba Sherwood Elmore, 91, formerly of Priddy Loop in Stoneville, passed away Sunday afternoon, July 5, 2009, at Brian Center in Eden. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, at Overlook Cemetery. A native of Rockingham County, Mrs. Elmore was born March 4, 1918, to the late Bethel and Annie Redmon Sherwood. She had been a member of Central Christian Church since 1965, where she served as a substitute Sunday School teacher for the 3rd grade class. She was a former member of Draper Women's League and the Women's Auxiliary Chiropractic Association. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. William H. Elmore; brothers, Melvin, Cyril and Bill Sherwood; and sister, Margaret Sherwood. Surviving is her daughter, Janet Farmer, of Eden. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, at Fair Funeral Home and other times at 236 Harrison Street in Eden. A special thanks is offered by the family to the staff of Brian Center for all their care and support, with special thanks to the staff of the 500 hall. on July 7, 2009.2
