Brian is survived by his beloved wife, Heather Sisson; children, Jessica Underwood (Braiden) and Bailee Reed (Aaron); his parents, Gary and Sharon Sisson; brother, Mark Sisson (Shannon); niece, Morgan Wills (Seth); nephews, Dakota and Carsyn Sisson; great nephew, Jaxon, as well as many other family members, special friends; and his best partner in crime, his dog Emma. Brian was most known for his love and compassion for others, especially his family. He was a life-long resident of Shawsville and was known by many for his love of lawncare, as he owned and operated a lawncare business for many, many years. Brian was a light and an inspiration to everyone he met. Brian became paralyzed at the young age of seventeen, and with that came many life challenges, but he never let that stop him from living his best life. A special thank you to Medi Home Health and Hospice of Pulaski, as well as our church family at Shawsville Congregational Holiness Church for all of the prayers, love and support. Interment will follow in Piedmont Cemetery. on May 28, 2023.⁴

     William Archer "Arch" Poff was buried at Sherwood Burial Park, 1045 Lynchburg Turnpike, Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.^4,5,6 He was born on September 5, 1896 at Floyd Co., Virginia.^4,9,5,6 He married Lula Sonya Poff, daughter of Joseph Fleming Poff and Rhoda Lee Hall, on March 10, 1918 at Floyd Co., Virginia.^2,6 William Archer "Arch" Poff died on April 27, 1957 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 60.^4,5,6,7 He A Roanoker collapsed and died in the vestibule of the Ninth Street Church of the Brethren last night just a couple of minutes before he was to walk down the aisle to give his daughter in marriage. William Arch Poff, 60, of 1319 Buena Vista Ave., SE, apparently died of a heart attack, said Dr. Charles M. Irvin, city medical examiner. The ceremony went on, but it was abbreviated by the officiating minister, The Rev. H. Lawrence Rice, and none in the wedding party or in the church knew until the wedding was over that Mr. Poff was dead. William Poff, a brother of the bride, stepped into the role his father was slated to play, and gave his sister, Normaline, in marriage to Melvin G. Wiseman. The minister said Mr. Poff had just entered the vestibule on the Montrose avenue side of the church and was standing beside J. C. Reed, a member of the board of deacons, when he was stricken. Reed stooped to assist the dying man and at that monent Mr. Rice stepped up. He was making a last minute check to see that everything was set for the ceremony to start. The minister said he was unable to detect a pulse and telephoned for the Roanoke Life Saving and First Aid Crew. The son stepped into the unexpected void in the proceedings. It was not until some time after the ceremony that the news was broken to the bride. An ambulance was summoned by the rescue squad moments after members had reached the church and Mr. Poff was pronounced dead on arrival at Lewis-Gale Hospital. Mr. Rice said the victim had a history of a heart condition and had been taking medicine prescribed by his physician. Only two or three minutes before entering the church, Mr. Poff had taken one of the tablets and Mr. Rice said he told an acquaintance as he entered the church that he "felt fine." Mr. Rice said that Mr. Poff was to have passed from the Montroee avenue vestibule to the Ninth street vestibule where he would have started his walk to the altar. Mr. Poff had been employed for 35 years in the engineering department at the American Viscose plant. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lula P. Poff, four daughters, and one son: Mrs. J. M. Dooley, Mrs. C. D. Parker, Mrs. S. E. Chewning and Mrs. Melvin Wiseman and W. A. Poff, Roanoke; four sisters and four brothers; Mrs. W. M. Wilson, Miss Cammie Poff and Mrs. Lewis Parsell, Roanoke; Mrs. Paul King, Salem; D. F. Poff, Roanoke; W. W. Poff, Fincastle; Roscoe Poff, Elliston; Charlie Poff, Vinton; and seven grandchildren. on April 28, 1957.⁷

     Willard Wilmoth Poff married Lionne Adelaide Wimmer, daughter of Charles Walter Wimmer Sr. and Nannie Belle Chisom.^1,2 Willard Wilmoth Poff was buried at Trinity Cemetery, Route 220 south of Fincastle, Botetourt Co., Virginia.^1,2 He was born on September 23, 1901 at Floyd Co., Virginia.^1,2 He died on February 16, 1960 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 58.^1,2

     Eva Elizabeth Smith was buried at Marvins Chapel Cemetery, Pinson, Jefferson Co., Alabama.^1,6 She was born on January 30, 1905 at Lynchburg, Virginia.³ As of May 13, 1920,her married name was Branham.² She married Eddie Ernest Branham on May 13, 1920 at Birmingham, Jefferson Co., Alabama.^2,3,6 Eva Elizabeth Smith died on March 18, 1946 at Tarrant, Jefferson Co., Alabama, at age 41.^3,6 She Mrs. Eva Elizabeth Branham, age 41, of 1244 Elm Street, Tarrant City, passed away Sunday a.m. at the residence. Survived by the husband, E. E. Branham; two sons, Edward and Richard Branham; three daughters, Mrs. Cecil Elsberry and Misses Mary Ann and Norma Jean Branham; one granddaughter; four brothers, J. L. and George Smith, Tarrant City; Emmett Smith, Roanoke, Va., John Smith, Lynchburg, Va; four sisters, Mr. M. E. Coleman, Mrs. J. B. Ewers and Mrs. J. W. Crutcher, all of Virginia, and Mrs. R. A. Miller, West Virginia. Interment Marvins Chapel Cemetery. on March 19, 1946.⁶

Christian, died at her home on Oliver and Butler streets, East Princeton, Friday morning following a brief illness of pneumonia. Besides her husband, Mrs. Christian leaves four children, Laura Jean, Dolores, Curtis Wilford, and William M. Jr. She also leaves her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Poff, of Roanoke, Va., and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. W. M. Wilson, of Roanoke, Va; Mrs. Paul King, of Salem, Va; Miss Campie Poff and Miss Lebron Poff, of Roanoke; Roescoe, W. A., D. F., and W. W. Poff, of Roanoke, and Charles, of Denton, Va. Mrs. Christian was a member of the Baptist church. Services will be conducted at the grave, Resthaven Memorial Park cemetery this afternoon at 3 o'clock by the Rev. J. T. Byrd. on April 27, 1935.⁴
