Prior to that, he was employed by Associated Transport of Roanoke. Since retiring, he enjoyed traveling for A-1 Messenger Service of Roanoke and Snyder RV of Salem. Besides the time he spent with his family, his greatest joy in life was in helping others. Many friends will be left to remember the many times that he came to their assistance. The three individuals that will cherish his help the most, however, are those that received a "gift of life" at his unexpected passing. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Oakey's North Chapel with the Rev. Ben Peyton and the Rev. Al Frank officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg, at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Oakey's North Chapel.
