He was an ardent wood craftsman and took great pride in the care and maintenance of his yard. He was an active member of Epperson Memorial United Methodist Church and a Charter Member of the now Wesley Fellowship United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Anita Cooke. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Shirley; one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Mike Churchwell; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Deborah Cooke and Brian and Robyne Cooke; one sister, Mary C. Daniel; one brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Sue Cooke and eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, July 29, 2006 at Wesley Fellowship United Methodist Church, 5400 North Pearl Street, with Rev. Gary Tarleton officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday (TODAY) at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426 Rowe Avenue. on July 28, 2006.2

The son of N.B. Daniel and Effie Wilder Daniel, he was born on November 5, 1926 near Menlo, GA. He received his early education in Menlo schools, attended North Georgia College in Dahlonega for a short time, and was a 1959 graduate of Georgia State University. Mr. Daniel was in the U.S. Maritime Service during WWII and served with the U.S. Army in the Korean Military Advisory Group during the Korean conflict. A long-time member of Toastmasters International, he had held offices at both the local and the district level. He was also a member of Red Oak United Methodist Church. He was employed at various times by Georgia Art Supply, Lockheed Aircraft, the U.S. Postal Service and Veterans Affairs. He was predeceased by his parents, and by brothers Harold and Paul Daniel, and is survived by his wife Mary C. Daniel, sons, Austin Wilson Daniel, Jr. (Nola), of Palmetto, GA, Charles Gordon Cochran (Rachel) of Decatur, GA, sisters-in-law, Elsie Toles of Menlo, Ga and Marlene Daniel of Phoenix, AZ, brothers-in-law, John G. Cooke (Shirley) of Jacksonville, FL and Stephen S. Cooke (Sue) of Ronceverte, WV, several nieces and nephews and nine grandchildren. Services will be held Monday, April 5 at 2:00 p.m. at Red Oak United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Yates officiating. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in College Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 4 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Red Oak United Methodist Church, P.O.
