The family lived in towns were sawmills sprung up, such as Gauley Mills, Camden on Gauley, Harris Siding, Thorn Hill, Coal Siding, Curtin, Cranberry Station, Holcomb and in 1912 ended up in Richwood.      Barbara Jean Lewis Barbara Lewis Johnson, age 92, died Tuesday, September 6, 2016. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Nile R. Johnson. Born September 25, 1923, in Richwood, West Virginia, Barbara was the daughter of Lon L. Lewis and Iva Connor Lewis. She was a graduate of Richwood High School and West Virginia Tech. Barbara moved with her family to Aiken in 1951. She was employed as an administrative secretary by the Dupont Company at the Savannah River Plant until her retirement in 1984. Among her many activities, she was a member of the Aiken Hospital Auxiliary for over 25 years; an active member and president of the Aiken Business and Professional Women's Club; and a long time and devoted member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Barbara was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and she attended more sporting events for her sons than any mother should have to endure. In addition to her husband, Barbara was predeceased by her son Robert L. Johnson. She is survived by her son Michael L. Johnson (Holly), her daughter-in-law Barbara F. Johnson, and her grandchildren Sarah Kathryn Johnson, Scott R. Johnson and Brian M. Johnson. A private graveside service was held at Southlawn Cemetery with Reverend Lee Phillips and Reverend Donnie Bates officiating.5 She was buried at Southlawn Cemetery, Aiken, Aiken Co., South Carolina.5,8 She was born on September 25, 1923 at Richwood, Nicholas Co., West Virginia.3,5 As of January 3, 1942,her married name was Johnson.3 She married Nile Robert Johnson on January 3, 1942 at Richwood, Nicholas Co., West Virginia.3,4,8,5 Barbara Jean Lewis died on September 6, 2016 at Aiken, Aiken Co., South Carolina, at age 92.5
