     Bessie Marie Lilly was born on August 14, 1920 at Beaver, Raleigh Co., West Virginia.^1,2,3 As of July 9, 1959,her married name was Martin.¹ She married Grady Rudolph Martin, son of Grady Vermillion Martin and Esther Mae Sweeney, on July 9, 1959 at White Sulphur Springs, Greenbrier Co., West Virginia.^1,2 Bessie Marie Lilly died on August 16, 2014 at Raleigh Co., West Virginia, at age 94.^2,3 She Bessie Marie Martin, 94, of Beaver, went home to be with the Lord, and was reunited with her husband Rudy, on August 16, 2014. Born August 14, 1920, in Beaver, WV, she was the daughter of the late Morris and Rosetta Lilly. Ms. Martin enjoyed spending time with her family, decorating cakes, volunteering with church organizations, and caring for her garden. She was a member of Grandview Christian Church on Table Rock Road. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Grady "Rudy" Martin, son Kevin Martin, granddaughter Rebecca Harrah; she was the last of eleven children. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Kay Ellison and husband Pete, Vivian Miller and husband Steve, Janet Noel and husband Doug, and Shirley Swanger; sons Robert Greer and wife Debbie, and David Green and wife Rene, along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and her caregiver Patty Radford. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Bessie Martin will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, August 18, 2014, at Grandview Christian Church on Table Rock Road with Pastors Russ Jordan, Oscar Schwitzerlette, and Jordan Legg officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Bessie's honor can be made to the Grandview Christian Church on Table Rock Road, or to Hospice of Southern West Virginia, PO Box 1472, Beckley, WV 25801. on August 18, 2014.²

     Edward Wilton "Eddie" Maxey was buried at Sherwood Burial Park, 1045 Lynchburg Turnpike, Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.^2,1 He was born on March 19, 1948 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.^2,5,3 He married Barbara Jean Linton on February 17, 1968 at Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.^2,1,3,4 Edward Wilton "Eddie" Maxey died on September 4, 2013 at Roanoke Co., Virginia, at age 65.^2,5 He Eddie, The Trapper, passed away at his home with his family and friends by his side after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Eddie retired from the City of Roanoke as a Maintenance Tech II and will be remembered for his love of the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and trapper. He was also a proud "Grandpa" that cherished his granddaughter, who was center of his life. Eddie touched many lives and never met a stranger. Those he leaves behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 45 years, Barbara Jean Linton Maxey; son, Edward Wilton Maxey, Jr. special granddaughter, Larna Marie Walthall/Maxey. He is also survived by his loving and caring stepmother, Frances Yopp Maxey Dillon; devoted brother and sister, Timothy Maxey and Darlene (Randy) Griffin; nieces, Melissa Conner and Angie Ramsey; nephew, Bruce Maxey, great-nieces, Courtney Haga, Emily Maxey, Claire Maxey, Jessica Cockran and Katie Ramsey, great-nephews, Dillon Bryant and Seth Ramsey; devoted cousin and best friend, Eugene (Vicky) Maxey, as well as numerous other cousins. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to our wonderful neighbors, family, and friends for all your help and support and Southern Care Hospice (Diane Hopkins and Mary Simpkins) for their excellent care and support. The family will be receiving friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 6, 2013 at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem. Funeral services will held at Lotz Funeral Home with Reverend Wallace Yopp and Reverend John Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park in the Belvedere Gardens. Maxey, January 14, 1950 - February 1, 2022. Barbara J. Maxey, 72, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, surround in love by family. She was preceeded in death by her parents, Frank A. Linton Sr. and Lucy Blankenship Duncan; her husband, Edward Wilton Maxey Sr; two sisters and an infant brother. She is survived by her son, Edward Wilton Maxey Jr. (Tricia), their children, Larna Maxey Gieseking (Paul), Lauren Goins, Jessica Goins, and their grandchildren, Rose Marie Gieseking, (soon to arrive), Eli, Levi, and Ryleigh Goins; her brother, Frank Linton Jr; her sister, Linda Carter (Gene); her uncle, Bob and aunt, Ada Pratt. Left to cherish her memory are a host of extended family and friends, Francis Hale (David), Barbara Blankenship, Frances Yopp Maxey Dillon, Timothy Maxey, Darlene Maxey Griffin, Tony, Ray and Chris Fisher. During middle childhood, she displayed superb swimming skills. In adolensce she greatly enjoyed water skiing at Smith Mountain Lake. She most often accompanied her husband on his many fishing and trapping expeditions. Mrs. Maxey is a direct descendent of one of western Roanoke County, Va. pioneer families- the Goffs, two documented American Revolution Patriots, a militiamen who served at the command of President George Washington during the Frontier Wars' Whiskey Rebellion, a pensioner veteran of the War of 1812, a pensioner of the Mexican War and two Civil War veterans and she is the great-granddaughter of John H. Linton, 7th Maryland Co. E (Union) and the great-great granddaughter of Jacob Bishop, 28th Virginia Infantry Co. K (Confederate). Selected members of the Joshua L. Chapman Camp #20 Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW) will serve as honorary pall bearers.
