     Luthena Hazel Salmons was buried at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, 5737 Airport Road NW, Roanoke, Virginia.2 She was born on December 16, 1922 at Patrick Co., Virginia.1 As of circa 1945,her married name was Howell.2 She married William Jackson "Moe" Howell Jr., son of William Jackson "Willie" Howell Sr. and Audrey May Furrow, circa 1945.2 Luthena Hazel Salmons died on May 15, 2015 at Virginia at age 92.2 She Hazel S. Howell, 92, of Roanoke, passed away Friday, May 15, 2015. Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, William J. "Moe" Howell Jr., her brother and sister. As a student of Jefferson High School, Hazel met Moe Howell, who would be the love of her life and her husband of 62 years when he passed in 2007. Hazel was a woman of no small feats, working for J. Edgar Hoover and the FBI as a fingerprint specialist during World War II. An avid golf lover, Hazel, along with the rest of her family, was a member of Blue Hills Golf Club where she took care of the Birdie Tree for years. Additionally, Hazel is fondly remembered for her love of cooking, being able to whip up a meal out of anything. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Don and Sandy Howell; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Barry Young; two grandsons, Jamie Young and Justin Deacon and his wife, Tiffany. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces; nephews; and other relatives. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family would like to express their heart felt appreciation to the staff of Friendship Health and Rehab for the love and care given to both Hazel and Moe during their stays, you were truly a blessing. on May 17, 2015.2

Born April 25, 1932, in Roanoke, he was a son of William and Audrey (Furrow) Howell. Prior to retirement, he was employed in real estate and construction in Roanoke. More recently, he worked with the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries at the hatchery in Williamsville. Surviving are a sister, Doris Hurd, of Roanoke; and a number of nieces and nephews. Also surviving are special friends and caregivers, Brad Mawyer and his family of Churchville. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, William Jackson "Moe" Howell Jr; and a sister, Edith Lorraine Dillon. No public services are planned. on August 23, 2012.3
