A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Roselawn Burial Park with the Revs. Tracy Freeman and R.T. Lawrence officiating. Norris Funeral Services and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. on May 4, 2009.1

Koska of Denville, and Maureen A. and Susan M., both of Andover; a brother, Richard C. of Roanoke, Va; a sister, Wanda Cook of Pamplin, Va; and five grandchildren. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Boonton. Interment will be private. on November 7, 2000.3

Born Oct. 8, 1919 at Keyrock, he was the son of the late Frank and Francis “Vanhoy” Laxton. Mr. Laxton was a lifelong resident of Wyoming County, a retired school bus driver from the Wyoming County Board of Education, was employed as a shipbuilder for the Navy at Portsmouth, Va., and served several terms as city councilman in Oceana. He was a former Justice of the Peace, owned and operated several area businesses in Wyoming County and was of the Protestant faith. He was preceded in death by a son, James “Jim” Laxton; a daughter, Earlene Laxton; five brothers, Sam, Lace, Center, John and Frank Jr. and a sister, Grace Shumate. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mrs. Virginia Jones Laxton; two sons, Pete Laxton of Oceana and David Glen and his wife, Peggy Laxton of Matheny; four daughters, Mrs. Franz (Rose) Geyer of Baltimore, Md., Mrs. Winston (Mary Lou) Lowe of Hager Hill, Ky., Mrs. Bob (Mae) Cook and Alice Laxton, both of Oceana; two sisters, Vida Adkins of Keyrock and Joyce Hamrick of Beckley; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Guyandotte Baptist Church, Jesse, with Rev. Stollie Parsons officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny. on November 13, 1994.3
