Burial will be in South Bend Cemetery, South Bend, Texas, under direction of Becker Funeral Home. He was born May 17, 1932, in South Bend, Texas. He grew up in South Bend and graduated from high school in Graham, Texas. He later earned his bachelor's degree in business from Wayland Baptist University. He married Betty Collinsworth on July 3, 1952, in Carlsbad, N.M. He worked for a telephone company for a short time following high school graduation before enlisting in the U.S. Army. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and retired at Fort Sill in 1974 with the rank of master sergeant. His awards include the National Defense Service Medal with first oak leaf cluster, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal 6 awards, Meritorious Unit Citation, Two Overseas Service Bars, Bronze Star Medal with first oak leaf cluster, Six Service Stripes, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation, Vietnam Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Expert Qualification Badge Rifle M-16 and the Republic of Vietnam Civil Action Unit Citation. Following his retirement from the Army, he moved to Wichita Falls, Texas, and taught high school R.O.T.C. He returned to Lawton in 1992 and worked as a manager for Raintree Apartment and Commercial Properties until the time of his death. He was a loving husband, a wonderful father and grandfather, an avid outdoorsman and a patriot. Survivors include his wife, of the home; four children and their spouses: Bill Burgess Jr., Brad and Karen Burgess and Bridget Burgess, all of Lawton; and Barbie and W. Blaine Sheffield, Edmond; a longtime daughter-in-law, Sylvia Burgess, Lawton; two sisters and a brother-in-law: Dorothy Teague, Arlington, Texas; and Ouida and Bobby Gary, Graham, Texas; nine grandchildren: Martin and Warren Newby, Bradley, Corbin and Beverly Burgess, Christopher Tipps, Taylor Burgess and Brantly and Braxton Sheffield; and two great-grandchildren: Blake Walker Burgess and Kimberlyn Peyton Newby. He was preceded in death by two children: Bobby Don and Becky Kay Burgess; and several brothers and sisters. Memorial contributions may be made to South Bend Cemetery Association, attn: Mary Braddock, 1010 Westwood Drive, Graham Texas 76450. on January 9, 2010.4

     Robert Garrison Patrick Robert Garrison Patrick, 47, former Olney resident, was killed in a drilling rig accident near Fort Morgan, Colo Wednesday. News of the accident was received here by his sister, Mrs Lee Atchley. Details are not yet available. Patrick was born in Whiteville, Tenn September 28, 1900. He came to Olney with his parents at an early age and lived here until last year. Survivors include five children, Mrs. Lurline Smith of Electra; Billy Patrick of Lubbock; Bobby, Johnny and Patricia Patrick of Amarillo; three grandchildren; four brothers, Tommy of Archer City, Harry of Jacksboro, Ray of Austin and J. H. Patrick of Abilene; four sisters, Mrs. Atchley, Mrs. Ollle Sparkman of Wichita Falls, Mrs. Sadie Akers of Odessa and Mrs. Mary Stevens of Kermit. The body was being brought to Olney for burial by Lunn Funeral Home. Raymond Lunn was accompanied to Colorado by Lee Atchley and Tommy Patrick. They are expected to return Friday night. Tentative plans call for funeral servlces to be held at the First Baptist Church Sunday afternoon at 2:30.2 He was buried at Restland Cemetery, Olney, Young Co., Texas.5 He was born on September 28, 1905 at Bolivar, Hardeman Co., Tennessee.2,4 He married Rhudelle Burgess, daughter of George Washington Burgess and Nannie Ella Akers, on August 13, 1933 at Cotton Co., Oklahoma.3 Robert Garrison Patrick died on December 16, 1953 at Fort Morgan, Morgan Co., Colorado, at age 48.2

He was 91. Mr. Pickthall was born Aug. 21, 1916, in Detroit. He worked 30 years as a building and grounds supervisor at Colorado School of Mines. He was an avid woodworker, making children's toys and puzzles, rocking horses and cribs. He was a past master at the Golden Masonic Lodge No. 1. He lived in Pine for 34 years. While living in Pine, he was a member of Conifer Community Church, then Conference Baptist Church of Evergreen. After moving to Golden in 1943, he joined Calvary Baptist. On Sept. 6, 1942, he married Juanita Marie "Jo" Danley in Wichita Falls, Texas. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 12, at Calvary Baptist Church, 17050 S. Golden Road. Survivors include his beloved wife; sons Gene (Stephanie) Pickthall of Arizona, Randy (Patty) Pickthall of Golden and Jerry (Marilyn) Pickthall of Denver. There are nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death in 2007 by his daughter Charla Wilke. Memorial donations may be sent in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 2255 S. Oneida St., Denver, CO 80224. Arrangements entrusted to Evergreen Mortuary. on June 19, 2008.2
