Campbell, 72, of Daleville, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2011, just a few short hours prior to his 73rd birthday. He was born in Roanoke County on August 8, 1938, a son of the late Lee Houston and Tincie Amanda Huffman Campbell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters-in-law, Barbara U. Campbell and Janet Thompson. Fred worked as a plumber in the Roanoke Valley for 45 years making many friends and acquaintances. Fred was an avid hunter, but his favorite past time was going to the Saturday night races at the Franklin County Speedway with his racing buddies. He was a member of Valley Christian Church. Left to cherish his memory are his wife and best buddy of 53 years, Reba S. Campbell; brother, Willard L. Campbell and wife, Marie, of Catawba; aunt, Merita Williams, of Covington; brothers-in-law, Thomas Stanley and wife, Reva, of Mineral, Va., Don Jamison, of Richmond, Joel Jamison and wife, Carol, of Richmond, and Tim Jamison and wife, Robin, of South Carolina; sister-in-law, Rita Martin and husband, Ronnie, of Vinton; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2011, at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road by Robert Brown, minister and Johnnie Tickle, evangelist. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at Simpson Funeral Home. on August 10, 2011.2

     Charles B. "Charlie" Murphy was buried at Sherwood Burial Park, 1045 Lynchburg Turnpike, Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.2 He married Mary Kate Craft, daughter of Benjamin Franklin "Ben" Craft and Mary Florence Crawford.1 Charles B. "Charlie" Murphy was born on July 31, 1917.3 He died on November 17, 2006 at Virginia at age 89.2,3 He Charles B. "Charlie" Murphy, 89, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 17, 2006. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, a World War II Naval Veteran, was retired from the Roanoke Times with 43 years of service, and was a member of Woodmen of the World. Mr. Murphy was preceded in death by his wives, Kate Murphy and Shirley Murphy; six brothers, Guy, Walter, Jesse, Frank, Robert, and John Murphy; and a sister, Georgia Craft. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Murriel Murphy, of Tampa, Fla; a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Earnie Bond, of Roanoke; a stepdaughter and son-in-law, Janie and Langley Peters, of New Castle; three stepsons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Carol Kendrick, of Peyton, Colo., Terry and Gail Kendrick, of Roanoke, Bobby and Sheila Kendrick, of Vinton; four grandchildren, Sheri Leftwich and husband Bob, Tracey Buzzo and husband Johnny, Ryan Murphy, Whitney Murphy; ten other special grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren. A special thanks to Rebekah Crawford for her loyal assistance to her grandfather. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday from Oakey's South Chapel with the Rev. Emory N. Tarpley officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Burial Park. The family suggests memorials be made to Calvary United Methodist Church (845 Hemlock Road, Salem, Va. 24153). The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Oakey's South Chapel. on November 18, 2006.2
