He was born October 9, 1925 in Clifton Forge to the late Stephen Anthony Sales, Sr. and the late Patricia E. Key Sales. He was of the Baptist Faith and retired employee of CSX Transportation, having served as Yardmaster, Trainmaster and the Terminal Manager for the Clifton Forge Terminal, and a Navy Veteran of WWII. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife; Frances Vint Sales in 1998, a daughter; Ginny McSpradden, a son; Joey McSpradden, a great-granddaughter; Rebecca Bush, and a brother; P.A. Shelton. He is survived by his wife; Janet Burkholder Sales, four daughters; Patricia Elizabeth "Pat" Sales Brown, of Clifton Forge, Cheryl Atkins and her husband Curt of Edinburg, VA, Vicki Jo Waddell and her husband Bobby, of Manassas, VA, Janie Rutherford and her husband Jeff, of Aldie, VA. four sons; Stephen A. Sales, III and his wife Susan, of Hayes, VA, Ricky McSpradden, and his wife Renae, of Citronell, Alabama, Frankie McSpradden, of Haymarket, VA, Tommy McSpradden and his wife Toni, of Front Royal, VA, his Mother-in-law; Ginny Burkholder, of Front Royal, VA, a brother; Allen Sales and his wife Mary Ann, of Clifton Forge, 19 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 10-great great-grandchildren, and two special friends; Ed Woodson and Robert Taylor. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM Sunday in the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge, with the Reverend W. Pembroke Hall, officiating. A private interment will take place in Alleghany Memorial park in Low Moor. Active pallbearers will be Tommy Tyree, Peter Cardinal, Billy Broughman, Richard Smith, Willie Stogdale, and Greg Johnson, Honorary Pallbearers will be; Ed Woodson, and Robert Taylor. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Saturday(tonight) at Nicely Funeral Home. The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions in his memory to Heart Havens, Inc. 813 Moorefield Parkway Drive Suite 301 Richmond, VA 23236. on July 22, 2011.2 He died on July 22, 2011 at Clifton Forge, Alleghany Co., Virginia, at age 85.3,2
