"Joe" Hardin, 86, of St. Albans, passed away March 28, 2019, at the Hubbard Hospice House-West. He was born June 1932 in St. Albans, the son of Troy Clayton and Mabel Melcenia Hardin. Joe graduated from St. Albans High in 1950. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Navy, in charge of communication aboard the USS Mount Olympus during the Korean conflict. Joe was an instructor at U.S. Naval Reserve Training Center in South Charleston. After his tour, he returned home to marry his sweetheart, Vashti Poff, where they settle in St. Albans. They celebrated their 63 years of marriage in December. He was an active member of Saint Peters United Methodist Church where he held several positions as Building Security Committee, Early Bird Committee, Trustee Committee, Finance Committee, Usher, Lawn Committee, Committee on Lay Leadership and Administrative Board. Joe was a building engineer manager for the Bell Atlantic Telephone until retirement. He was a Charter member, Mountaineer Chapter of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers. Joseph's family was blessed to have him in their lives. He was an honorable and kind gentleman and people enjoyed being around him. He dearly loved his wife, his children, his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and truly delighted spending time with them. In addition to his parents, Joe was predeceased by a brother, Bill; sisters, Margaret and Audrey.
