The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home. Born, January 27, 1951, in Bluefield, he was the son of Matlida Murphy of Princeton and the late Mason Murphy. Lawrence was a loving husband, father, son, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother uncle and friend. Lawrence was a graduate of Athens High School class of 1971. He was a boiler maker by trade starting in 1974 at B&B Boiler working along side his father then when his father retired in 1989 Lawrence took over the business until her retired in 2016. Lawrence was a graduate of Athens High School class of 1971. He loved working on the farm, working with his team of draft horses, his cattle, his steam engines and hunting and fishing. Lawrence as a member of the Concord Masonic Lodge #48 AF&AM in Athens and the Beni Kedem Temple in Charleston. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one sister, Patricia Murphy. Left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife, Barbara Craghead Murphy; One son, Brian Murphy and his wife Heather Kropac; One daughter, Melanie Kincaid and husband Jesse; His mother, Matlida Murphy; Three grandchildren, Riddick Kincaid, Mason Murphy and Fallyn Murphy; One brother, Sam Murphy and wife Wanda; One sister, Ann Anders; Also surviving are his many buddies who worked with him on various projects. Graveside services will be held at the Murphy Cemetery on the Murphy Farm in Princeton with Masonic services by the Concord Lodge #48.
