He was born May 5, 1955 in Franklin County, Virginia, to the late Daniel Owen Hodges and Ida Katherine Hodges. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Kathy Travis; and brothers, Dennis and David Travis. Mr. Hodges was a self-employed truck driver. He loved driving his truck, loved his grandchildren, being with his family and watching baseball. He is survived by his wife, Janet Ellen Hodges; daughters, Melissa Dawn Provost, Crystal Gail Wheeler, and Lori Leigh Lund; son, Michael Alexander Hodges; sisters, Sandra and Pauline; grandchildren, Ashley Provost, Bailey Provost, Carley Provost, Jayden Wheeler, Jacob Lund, Lily Lund, and Dellah Hodges.⁴ He was born on May 5, 1955 at Franklin Co., Virginia.^2,3,4 He married Janet Ellen Holland, daughter of Myron Houston Holland and Lillie Mae Stump, on October 30, 1975 at Franklin Co., Virginia.^1,2 Michael Riley Hodges died on December 24, 2020 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 65.⁴

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson and Bea Angell; brothers, Johnny, Bruce and Tracey Lee Angell; and in-laws, Dolph and Nina Browning. Surviving are his loving wife of 34 years, Myra Angell; sons, Jim Angell, Tim Angell (Lisa), Zack Hall (Renae); step-sons, Terry Smith (Libby), P.J. Smith (Martha), and Rodney Smith (Darlene). He was a very proud grandparent of Owen Angell and Abby Angell, Emilee Smith and Savanna Smith; also many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Wayne Angell (Faye), Romona Wright (Frank), Jean Jones (Vernon), Betty Jo Shively (Billy), Sarah Heckman (Dan), Stelia Wilbourn (Mark); sisters-in-law, Sharon Angell and Sue Angell; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Thomas was a lifelong resident of Callaway where he was the owner of A&A Market for 50 years. He was a proud Callaway Community Recreation Sports Sponsor and Coach for many years. Being the jack of all trades and a master of many, Thomas could fix anything and his family and friends always knew to call him. Johnny enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He never met a person that he did not enjoy talking with. Graveside Services will be conducted at Franklin Memorial Park. on May 16, 2018.²

     Bruce Benjamin Angell Bruce Benjamin Angell, age 64 of Ferrum, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2021. He was born April 20, 1956, the son of the late Wilson and Beatrice Angell. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Johnny Angell and Tracy Angell. Surviving are his son, “the pride and joy of his life” Alex Angell; spouse, Sue Angell; sisters and brothers, Mona Wright (Frank), Wayne Angell (Faye), Jean Jones (Vernon), Betty Jo Shively (Billy), Thomas Angell (Myra), Sarah Heckman (Dan), Stelia Wilbourne (Mark); mother-in-law, Ruth Nichols; sisters-in-law, Sharon Angell and Trish Angle (Scott); also many beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Romona Darlene Angell Wright, age 83 of Rocky Mount earned her wings on Monday, May 26, 2025 after a long courageous battle with liver disease. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Wilson and Bea Angell; brothers, Thomas Angell, Bruce Angell, Johnny Angell and Tracy Lee Angell; and brother-in-law, Billy Shively. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Franklin Wright; daughters, Robin Lavinder (John) and Kim Zorn (Wes); grandsons, Isaac Lavinder (Rosea), Aaron Lavinder (Traci), Brock Zorn and Griffin Zorn; great-granddaughters, Ella Coleman and Lily Lavinder; sisters, Jean Jones (Vernon), Betty Jo Shively, Sarah Heckman (Dan), Stelia Wilbourn (Mark); brother, Wayne Angell (Faye); and sisters-in-law, Myra, Sharon and Sue Angell.      Franklin Wilton "Frank" Wright Franklin Wilton Wright, Jan 26, 1941 - Aug 18, 2025. Franklin Wilton Wright, age 84 of Rocky Mount passed away Monday, August 18, 2025. Frank was the youngest of 12 children, born to Isaac and Sarah Wright and joins them in heaven along with his wife of 65 years, Romona Wright. He was a gentle, peaceful soul who worked hard his whole life. Frank loved his family and worked hard to give them a good life. He had a soft spot for his wife, animals, and grandchildren. He loved to grow a garden and watch a NASCAR race. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Robin Lavinder (John) and Kimberly Zorn (Wes); grandchildren, Isaac Lavinder (Rosea) and Aaron Lavinder (Traci), Brock and Griffin Zorn; great-grandchildren, Ella Coleman and Lily Lavinder; many extended family and friends. The family wishes to thank the staff at Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital, Franklin Health and Rehab, Carilion Hospice and Franklin County Public Safety for the care and comfort they provided.      William Lee "Bill" Shively William Lee Shively, Jun 2, 1945 - Sep 1, 2022. William “Bill” Lee Shively, age 77 of Callaway, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital after his battle with a brief illness. He was a son of the late Morgan William and Hazel L. Shively. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ronnie Wayne Shively and Kermit Dillard Shively; niece, Diane Hynes; sister-in-law, Ann Shively; and brother-in-law, Jimmy Scott. Surviving are his wife, Betty Jo Shively; children, Donna Hicks (Byron) and Rhonda Wiggonton (Donald); grandchildren, Hannah Wiggonton and Jarrett Wiggonton; siblings, Margaret Scott, Larry Shively, Betty Ann (Jeff) Lackey, and Carla Hodges; numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. Bill worked at Elizabeth Arden as a supervisor and retired with over 33 years of service. He also coached numerous youth sport teams and was a Deacon at Piedmont Presbyterian Church.⁵ He married Betty Jo Angell, daughter of Woodrow Wilson Angell and Beatrice Irene Holland.^1,2,3,4,6 William Lee "Bill" Shively was born on June 2, 1945.⁵ He died on September 1, 2022 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 77.⁵

     Rita Gay Martin Rita Martin Bugg, 75 of Christiansburg, passed away Wednesday March 20th, 2024. She is preceded in death by her husband, Stanley A. Bugg; her son, Brian T. Bugg; her mother, Virginia R. M. Burke and Father William C. Martin. She is survived by her daughter, Angela D. Bugg; two grandchildren, Addam and Emily Scott. Also left to cherish her memory are her siblings, 2 sisters, Laura Holder and husband Herbert; Judy Gardner and Husband David, 2 brothers, Dale Martin and William (Billy) Martin and wife Patricia, and numerous nieces and nephews. Rita loved spending her weekends at the campground, car rides and the beach. She loved spending time with her family and making people laugh. Surviving are her mother, Jean Britt Earles of Christiansburg; her daughter and son-in-law, Kristen Dangerfield Gutzmer and Christopher David Gutzmer of Richmond; her beloved granddaughters, Hailey Nicole Gutzmer and Lyndsey Michelle Gutzmer of Richmond; her brother, James L. Earles, Jr. of Roanoke; nieces, Katherine Susan Earles, Kendall Christine Earles; a nephew, James Kirkwood Earles of Roanoke; her uncle and aunt, Kenneth and Jean Britt of Christiansburg; and her dear friend for many years, Sue S. Dudley of Richmond. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery. on November 21, 2005.³
