Guida Virginia Cox was born on November 9, 1906 at Volney, Grayson Co., Virginia.1,2 She died on September 23, 2005 at Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia, at age 98.1,2,3 She Guida Virginia Cox Poff, 98, of Roanoke, passed away Friday evening, September 23, 2005 at Salem Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the widow of Cedric H. Poff and was formerly of Peters Creek Road. Guida was born November 9, 1906 in Volney, Va. to the late W. Hoyt and Sue Hash Cox. She worked for Continental Life and Southland Life Insurance Company for many years. Mrs. Poff was a charter member of Southview United Methodist Church, where she was a faithful, active member until her health began to fail her. She enjoyed cooking and baking, and shared her delicious food with many people. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Vaughn, Wayne, Carr, Joseph, Paul, and Ray Cox; and a sister, Mattie Cox. Surviving are a brother, Woodrow Cox of Bedford; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, September 26, 2005 from Southview United Methodist Church with the Reverend George M. Pearson, Jr. and the Reverend Jeff D. Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Southview United Methodist Church, 3539 Peters Creek Road, NW, Roanoke, Va. 24019. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Monday at the church. Arrangements by Oakey's North Chapel.

Doris was born on March 4, 1950, in Pearisburg, Virginia, to the late Roy and Mary Richardson. Doris was also preceded in death by her husband, Robin Lee Poff; and brothers, Tommy and Bob Richardson. Doris will be forever loved and remembered by her daughters, Michelle Yost (Bob), Sonya Zaronsky (Mike), and Kim Grubb (Josh); nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; her pets Kiki and Holly; two sisters, Lois Vaught and Charlotte Ball; two brothers, Emory and Donnie Richardson; and many friends. Poff; sisters, Carol Short and Debi Overstreet and husband, Sam; step-daughter, Penny Mayes and husband, Joe; grandchildren, Amanda and Anthony Spencer; three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family wishes to thank the staffs of the Salem Rescue Squad, as well as Lewis Gale Hospital and E.R. for the care shown during Kevin's illness. on March 18, 2015.2

She was the sister of Theora "Ora" Guthrie of Salem, Va., Roscoe Agee, and Andrew Agee, both of Christiansburg, Va., Ruby Dyer, and Doris Hawley, both of Roanoke, Va., Francis Lewis of Newbern, N. C., Madeline Bonham of Midway Park, N. C., Floyd Agee, Jr. of Bent Mountain, Va., and the late Roy Agee and Elzora "Zora" Adams. She is also survived by five grandchildren. Mrs. Poff moved to St. Mary's County in 1952. Mrs. Poff worked for the St. Mary's County Public School System. She was a food service manager at Margaret Brent Middle School. She retired in 1986. She enjoyed bingo, quilting and family. She was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church in Chaptico, Md. Funeral services will be held in Christ Episcopal Church, in Chaptico, Md. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers for Mrs. Poff are: Floyd Agee, Jr., Jim Hawley, Franklin Hill, Dallis Hill, Bruce Cooke, and Sam Frazier. Honorary Pallbearers are Justin Cooke and Casey Cooke. on May 21, 2000.1

She attended Christian Fellowship Tabernacle in Christiansburg and was faithful until her health failed. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday from the Richardson-Horne Funeral Chapel, conducted by Rev. Earnest Fulcher, with burial in Sunset Cemetery. Friends may call anytime after noon Thursday at the funeral home and the family will receive friends there Thursday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Arrangements by Richardson-Horne. on March 25, 1999.2
