Juanita Gertrude Conner died on August 19, 2015 at Virginia at age 82.4 She Juanita Conner Pugh, 82, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday afternoon, August 19, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. Her parents Wilard J. and Virgie Conner preceded her in death. Mrs. Pugh was employed for 18 years with McKesson Drug Corp. before working for Roanoke Iron and Bridge Works for 10 years before retiring and joining her husband in the family business selling cars at the Kar Korral. She loved her family dearly and spending time with them, and in her free time she enjoyed sewing, making clothes for her family. Left to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted husband of 62 years, William M. Pugh; two daughters, Debra Layman and husband, Jon, of Roanoke, Pamela Hatter and husband, Matthew from Botetourt; a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Hatter; brothers, Howard Wesley Conner and wife, Evelyn, of Roanoke County, Jackson L. Conner and wife, Louise, of Copper Hill; sisters-in-law, Mary Board, of Roanoke, and Kathryn Naff, of Ohio. Along with a host of other family and friends. In Mrs. Pugh's memory, memorials may be made to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America. A funeral service celebrating Mrs. Pugh's life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 22, 2015 in Simpson Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Austin officiating. Interment will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday August 21, 2015 at Simpson Funeral Home. on August 21, 2015.4

Marguerite was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Marguerite worked as a secretary at the Roanoke City Health Department and retired there after twenty-plus years. While there, she received the honor of the Southwest Regional Secretary of the Year. She was a member of Poages Mill Church of the Brethren and had a deep and abiding faith in God. Marguerite and Marvin loved traveling the country and spending their winters in Florida with many of their friends. She enjoyed vacations with the entire family by the shore. Her favorite thing to do was spend time with her grand and great-grandchildren. Many precious hours were spent in the pool, yard, park and kitchen - playing the day away with "Meme" as they called her. She had that special love that only a grandmother could give, and her family knew she could always be counted on to give support in any way. The family would like to extend their gratitude towards her amazing caretakers, Krystal Walters, Chelsea Link, and Stormy Brieger. The family would also like to recognize the time and effort put forth from Tony and Karen Link in caring for their mother. Burial will follow at Rest Vale Cemetery in Copper Hill. on February 11, 2023.3

She studied nursing at Lewis-Gale Hospital of Roanoke, graduating with the first nursing class of Community Hospital of Roanoke Valley-Class of 1966. She was a dedicated nurse for thirty-six years, serving her profession at the Lewis-Gale Hospital of Roanoke, Va., the Arlington Memorial Hospital, Arlington, Va., the John Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Md., and the Peninsular Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, Md. A memorial service will be held at the Bounds Funeral Home on July 12, 2002, at 2 p.m., in Salisbury, Md.
