Born March 16, 1920, at Beckley, she was the daughter of the late A.J. and Annie L. Wilberforce Truman. Mrs. Okes was retired from the Raleigh County Board of Education, where she was a secretary for Shady Spring High School. She was a member of the Beaver United Methodist Church and had been a resident of Greystone Inn in Beaver. She was a lifelong resident of Raleigh County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit K. Okes, on July 6, 1998; two sisters, Doris Houck and Gladys White; and two brothers, Alfred and Arthur Truman. Survivors include three sons, Gary D. Okes and his wife, Terri, of Richmond, Va., John R. Okes and his wife, Ellen, of Beckley, and Thomas D. Okes and his wife, Misty, of Beaver; two sisters, Evelyn Blymyer of Palmdale, Calif., and Mildred Francisco of Beckley; and six grandchildren, Brandon S. Okes, Justin D. Okes, John Morgan Okes, Tara M. Okes, B.J. Okes, and Steven K. Okes. Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Beaver United Method-ist Church with the Rev. Virgil C. Cook and the Rev.
