Light or Iddings.² He was born circa 1844 at Floyd Co., Virginia.¹ He married Elizabeth Ferguson in 1873 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.² Raleigh F. "Roley" "Ralph" Light/Iddings married Antonetta/Ganzetta E. Aldridge, daughter of Mary "Polly" Aldridge, on June 24, 1887 at Floyd Co., Virginia; Raleigh was divorced when he married Ganzetta.¹

He was a member of the Pilot United Methodist Church and is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Lacy (Gwen) Horton, Riner; Mrs. Claude (Katherine) Johnson, Fort Myers, FL; Mrs. Tommy (Ellen) Ballard, Salem; Mrs. Dillard (Lura Dean) Stone, Mrs. Hubert (Catherine) Averett, both of Christiansburg; one son, Alvin Preston Vest, Salem; three sisters, Mrs. Marcella Conner, Salem; Mrs. Malinda Compton, Mrs. Ada Sexton, both of Floyd; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren. Interment will follow in the Huffville Cemetery. on March 6, 1981.¹⁰

Born March 18, 1932 in Floyd County, Va. He was a long standing member of East Gate Church of the Nazarene and was a retired antique dealer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lila and Abner Yates; brothers, Dock Yates and Roffe Yates. He is survived by his wife, Frances R. Yates of Vinton; sister, Nancy Nelson of Pensacola, Fla; brothers and sisters-in-law, Garland and Virginia Yates of Roanoke, Leo and Betty Yates of Fredricksburg, Lester and Blanche Yates of Roanoke and Jack and Evelyn Yates of Fredricksburg; stepson and wife, James and Carol Oliver Houston, Texas; granddaughters, Sarah and Elizabeth Oliver; brother-in-law and wife Brice and Betty Ridgway of Franklin County; 20 nieces and nephews and a number of great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2005 at the East Gate Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. George Stevenson and Pastor Al Frank officiating. Burial to follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday at the Lotz Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel.

Alabama "Allie" Lawrence died on June 3, 1930 at Floyd Co., Virginia, at age 40.⁶

     Frances Ridgeway Yates, Frances Ridgeway, 79, of Vinton, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2014. She was a long time member of East Gate Church of the Nazarene. She was predeceased by her parents, Talmadge and Lucy Ridgeway; two siblings and grandson, Jonathan Oliver. Surviving family includes a son, James W Oliver and wife, Carole Hardin-Oliver; grandchildren, Sarah and Elizabeth Oliver; brother and sister-in-law, Brice and Bettye Ridgeway; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lester and Blanche Yates, Leo and Betty Yates, and Jack and Evelyn Yates; sister-in-law, Virginia Yates and many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at the Lotz Funeral Home Chapel in Vinton with Rev. George Stevenson and Rev. Shannon Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at the funeral home.
