He is survived by his wife, Jean and children, Amy Keirstead and son-in-law Brett Keirstead of Minneapolis, Minn., Steve Cannaday and daughter-in-law, Becky Cannaday of Greeneville, N.C., Todd Cannaday and daughter-in-law Kris Ann Cannaday of Galax, Va., Melissa Minarik and son-in-law, John Minarik of Morristown; sister, Brenda Cannaday of Vinton, Va; brother, Roger Cannaday of Salem, Va; niece, Laura Cannaday of Salem, Va; grandchildren, Ty and Taylor Cannaday, Hannah and Morgan Keirstead, Allison and Steve Cannaday, Jr. Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Monday, September 15, 2003 at Mayes Mortuary with Rev. Gary Marshall and Rev. Randy Morris officiating. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. prior to the service. A graveside service will be 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Oakdale Cemetery in Washington, N.C. Mayes Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. on September 15, 2003.³

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Brammer and Marie Dobbins Cannaday, and his brother, Harry Brammer Cannaday, Jr. He is survived by his daughter, Laura Campbell Cannaday, of Richmond; his sister, Brenda Gail Cannaday, of Vinton, and many other loving relatives. Roger was a member of Rainbow Forest Baptist Church in Troutville. He was a remarkable athlete and loved to hunt and fish. He graduated from William Byrd High School in 1970, and that same year he was a state champion wrestler. A wrestling scholarship fund at William Byrd High School is being set up in his name. Roger also served in the United States Air Force and attended Virginia Tech. He was a skilled builder and past owner of Cannaday Construction, Inc. His family would like to thank his good friends, WC Adams and Eric Thomas, for their amazing and continuous support, compassion, and care during Rogers illness. Rogers family would also like to thank the staff at the VA Hospital in Salem for their care and kindness toward Roger. He was retired from Superior Carriers and was a member of Hollins Road Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Luther Cannaday, Sr. and Elsie Virginia Cannaday Goins. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Kathryn S. Cannaday; four children and spouses, Douglas (Malinda) Cannaday of Cedar Bluff, Darrell (Elsie) Cannaday, Brenda (Mickey) Bowman, Missy (Mike) Henritze, all of Roanoke; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakeys Vinton Chapel at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 3, 2007 with Minister Jim Morris officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery. Cannaday, 82, of Vinton, Va., and formerly of West Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Thomas L. Cannaday Jr; parents, Londa and Texie Sweeney; brothers, John and George Sweeney; and sister, Versie Brammer, of West Virginia. She is survived by sons, Douglas (Malinda) Cannaday, of Cedar Bluff, and Darrell (Elsie) Cannaday, of Roanoke; daughters, Brenda (Mickey) Bowman, of Roanoke, and Michelle "Missy" (Mike) Henritze, of Vinton; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dora Bryant, Ellen Cole, and Ferne Meadows, all of West Virginia, and Maxine Lilly, of Maryland; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family; and faithful loving cats, Bug and Sock. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 3, 2010, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with the Rev. Chips Doyle officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
