He was born on Oct. 29, 1927, at Meadow Bridge, W.Va., and was the son of the late Oscar and Lou Ola Gill, and stepmother, Verly Jeffries Gill. He was preceded in death by a son, David Gill; three brothers, Clinton, Clayton and Cleo Gill; and a sister, Mildred. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 63 years, Ester Gill, at home; son, Danny Gill; grandsons, Matthew Gill and his wife, Kim, of Oak Hill, and Danny C. Gill and his wife, Kim, of Crab Orchard; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Samuel, and Sydney Gill of Crab Orchard; and numerous friends including Wayne Jarrett who helped cared for him until his passing. A celebration of life for Mr. Gill will be 2 p.m. today, Friday, May 22, 2009, at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley with the Rev. Roger Tolliver officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley. Friends may call one hour prior to the service today for visitation. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. He won the battle over Alzheimer’s with which he struggled for over 12 years. He has gone to live forever with those that had gone on before him, his parents James and Lucy Griffith McMillion, his son Johnny McMillion, and his grandson David Lee Saunders. Mr. McMillion was born on October 18, 1926, in Rock Lick, W.Va. Those loved ones left behind are his beloved wife of 56 years, Bertha Biggs McMillion; his precious children, Geneva Saunders and her husband David of Shady Spring; Randy McMillion and his wife Sandy of Bristol, Va; Sherry Kennedy and her husband Don of Columbia, S.C. He is also survived by his treasured grandchildren, Brandon McMillion and Troy McMillion of Bristol, Va; Leigh Montogue of Huntsville, Alabama, and Jennifer Baxley of Columbia, S.C; five great-grandchildren, Dylon, Kalee, Maddy, Emma, and David. Mr. McMillion was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was a coal miner for 32 years, was a member of the UMWA local 6105, and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII. Our most treasured memory is that he was a born again Christian who truly loved his Lord, being of the Baptist faith. Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley, on Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at 2 p.m., with Pastor Harmon Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, W.Va. on January 4, 2011.5

Surviving: his wife, Rita Biggs Perdue; his children, Teddy Perdue and his wife, Linda, of Cherryville, N.C., Pamela Garrison and her husband, Dean, of Lookout, and Belinda Armstrong and her husband, John, of Lookout; his brothers, Jesse Perdue of Lick Creek, Larry Perdue of Williamsburg, Va., and Marvin, Mike, and Joe Perdue, all of Portsmouth, Ohio; his sisters, Nora Roberts and Emma Roberts, both of Lincoln County; grandchildren, Anna Garrison, Janina Schoolcraft, Melissa Perdue, Jeremy Perdue, and Zackary Ransom; and great-grandchildren, Taylor, Kyndal, Sydney, and Carter James Perdue. Funeral services were Sept. 25 at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley, with Pastor Ken Souder officiating. Burial followed at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. on September 30, 2009.4
