     Gary Wayne Jones was born on September 27, 1953 at Virginia.⁴ He married Sharon Gail Conner, daughter of Garney Buford Conner and Ruby Lee Meador, on June 23, 1980 at Christiansburg, Montgomery Co., Virginia.^1,2,3,4 Gary Wayne Jones died on August 15, 2013 at Virginia at age 59.³ He Gary Wayne Jones, 59, of Elliston, was ushered into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, August 15, 2013. He went peacefully surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his father, William Morris Jones. Those left to cherish his memories are his mother, Evelyn Starkey Jones of Elliston; his loving and supportive wife of 33 years, Sharon Conner Jones. He also leaves behind the joys of his life, his four children, Mark and wife Brooke of Ironto, daughter, Dana and fiance, Anthony Lovern of Christiansburg, son, Stephen and girlfriend, Susie Cash of Elliston, and son Benjaman who still resides at home. He was one of four children, Doug Jones and wife Liz of Salem, Butch Jones and wife Mary, also of Salem, and Carolyn Blanchard and husband Bob of Elliston. Gary had one granddaughter who lit up his world and spent most of her days with him, Skylar Jones. She was his pride and joy! He also had two stepgrandchildren he loved as his own, Damien Lovern and Logan Cornelius. He will also be missed by many close cousins and nieces and nephews. Gary was a simple man who loved the Lord. He was a prayer warrior and spent hours alone in prayer. He enjoyed his quiet time on the mountain, just him and His Savior, praying, reflecting, and taking in God's beautiful creation. Sundays were his favorite days. Having the family all together for Sunday dinner was the highlight of his week. His sweet gentle nature will never be forgotten. We know he is at peace, without pain or burdens, and we will see him again when the Lord calls us all home. Visitation will be at Elliston Church of God on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 from 1 to 3 p.m. with the funeral immediately following, beginning at 3 p.m. Brother Ronald King will be conducting the service with assistance by Pastor Wayne Powell. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate any donations to be made to John M. Oakey & Son of Salem, c/o, Gary Wayne Jones, to help cover funeral expenses. on August 18, 2013.³

     Robert Gordon Moon Robert Gordon Moon, age 67, of Union Point, GA died Friday, December 12, 2014 at Athens Regional Medical Center. A lifelong resident of Greene County, he was born on February 22, 1947 to Grace Pendeton Higdon and the late Virgil Gordon Moon. He graduated from Greensboro High School. On May 29, 1993 he married Barbara Chaffee Moon of Union Point, GA. Robert worked for Alcan in Greensboro which later became Novelis as the Production Supervisor for 39 years before retiring in 2012. Robert enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing. In addition to his wife Barbara C. Moon of Union Point, GA, he is survived by his mother Grace Pendeton Higdon of White Plains, GA; son, Scott Moon of Augusta, GA; three daughters, Ginger Moon Davis (Michael) of Grovetown, GA, Sara Moon Clifton (Josh) of Siloam, GA and Syndi Moon of Jacksonville, FL; stepdaughters, Beth Baynes Thomason (Mark) of Clarkesville, GA and Jennifer Baynes Brown (David) of Buckhead, GA. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Dylan Davis, Brianna Davis, Dalton Davis, Lillia Marie Grace Moon, Matt Garland, Ben Garland, Christopher Brown and Adam Brown; brother, Charles Moon (Dawn) of Lake Oconee; sisters, Linda Moon Mullins (Michael) of Buckhead, GA and Laurie Moon Veazey (Sammy) of White Plains, GA; a number of nephews, other relatives and friends.³ He was born on February 22, 1947 at Arlington, Virginia.^1,3,4 He married Barbara Chaffee on May 29, 1993.³ Robert Gordon Moon died on December 12, 2014 at Athens, Clarke Co., Georgia, at age 67.³

A native of Greene County, Mr. Wellborn was a son of the late Bowan Edward and Minnie Kinsey Wellborn. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a carpenter for S.T. Webb's Construction, and attended Walker United Methodist Church. Services will be today at Walker United Methodist Church Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Winnie Wellborn; five daughters, Becky Buchanan, Fairfax, Va., Alice Brummett, Newtsville, Va., Nancy Lane, Stafford, Va., Mary Sheetz, Monasses, Va., and Cindy Carter, Portland, Ore; five sons, Buddy Wellborn, Bumpass, Va., Sam Wellborn, Barien Springs, Mich., Greg Wellborn, Bristol, Tenn., Johnny Wellborn, Fort Pierce, Fla., and Billy Wellborn, Stafford, Va; a sister, Sueclair Randall, Monroe; and 24 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. on December 7, 1998.⁵

     Robert W. Kelley DEATH of ROB'T. W. KELLEY - Mr. Kelley, for many years a resident of New Castle, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Thos. Hancock in Washington, DC, on last Wed. (April 9, 1924). The remains reached here Friday for burial in West View Cemetery by the side of his wife who died several years ago. Two sons and a daughter are also buried there. Mr. Kelley was a Federal soldier and settled in New Castle at the close of the war (Civil War--cb). He married a daughter of the late Rev. A.J. Elmore. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Minnie Hancock and Mrs. Stella Boitnott of Roanoke. He had lived with Stella, but was visiting Minnie when he died. The Rev. S.H.
