     Charles Michael "Mike" Thacker Charles Michael (Mike) Thacker, 67, died peacefully at his beloved home on the hill on Thursday, October 10, 2013. Mike is survived by his wife of 43 years, Victoria Fuller Thacker; daughter, Alexandra Fuller Thacker, Charleston, SC; mother, Anne Conner Thacker; mother-in-law, Mary McNett Fuller; sister, Pamela Thacker Peck and husband, Frank, all of Roanoke; brother, Douglas Bentley Thacker and wife, Noni, Florida; nieces Wensday Tumulak and husband Michael, Roanoke; Jillian (JJ) Thacker, Florida; nephews Jeffrey Ursoy and wife Tonya, Colorado; Douglas (Budd) Thacker; and Charles Thacker, Florida. He is also survived by caring aunts, uncles, cousins, and grand-nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Charles Bentley Thacker, and his father-in-law, James Conrad Lutz Fuller. A lifelong resident of Roanoke, Mike graduated from Cave Spring High School (1964) and Virginia Military Institute (1968). After receiving his degree in Civil Engineering, he served as a commissioned officer in the United States Army. He was assigned to the Military Police, Fort Campbell, KY, followed by duty in Vietnam as Executive Officer in Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Division. Mike was employed for 34 years at Appalachian Power Company/American Electric Power, Hydro-electric Generation. Although he retired as Hydro Support Manager, Smith Mountain Lake, on February 1, 2003, he continued a close association with his coworkers. A lifelong athlete with a wide range of interests, Mike often spent his days fishing, golfing and roaming the countryside with pals. He enjoyed working in his yard and on his home, and with his boundless energy, he also worked part-time at Mulch ‘n More, cut countless cords of firewood, and was always available as Mr. Fix-it. His vast collection of tools and implements was ever available to fellow do-it-yourselfers. Mike inspired close friendships, and was a true friend in return; he will be very greatly missed.5 He was buried at Riverview Cemetery, 420 Rosser Avenue, Waynesboro, Augusta Co., Virginia.6 His Social Security Number was 229-62-9313.10 He was born on July 21, 1946 at Roanoke, Virginia.3,10,6,7 He married Cathern Victoria "Vickie" Fuller on September 6, 1970 at Roanoke, Virginia.3,5,6,11 Charles Michael "Mike" Thacker died on October 10, 2013 at Roanoke Co., Virginia, at age 67.10,4,5,6
