Wells, 88 of Bluefield, VA, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018 at the Veterans Hospital, Beckley, WV. Born in Stotesbury, WV, he was the last surviving child of 10, born to the late Frank and Bertha Henry Wells. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served 14 months in Korea. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Bluefield, VA, retiring in 1985. He also retired from the West Virginia Army National Guard in the same year. Sam was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. He completed hiking the 2100 mile Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine in 1987. In 1954, Sam became a Mason and was the Grand Commander of the Grand Commandery of Knights Templar of Virginia from 1995-1996. His first wife, Ann Scott Wells and daughter Patricia Mowrey preceded him in death. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife: Ping Chen Wells of Bluefield, VA; his son: Michael Wells (Anita) of Bluefield, VA; son-in-law: David Mowrey of Bluefield, VA; step-son: Chao Chen of New York; grandchildren: Aaron Wells (Misty Keech) of Falls Mills, VA and Adam Wells (Anna) of Ft. Bragg, NC; great-grandchildren: Benjamin Wells, Dakota Taylor and Courtney Wells. The Harman Lodge #222 A.F. & A.M. will conduct Masonic Rites at the conclusion of the service. Entombment will follow at Grandview Memory Mausoleum. Patricia Gail Wells Patricia Wells Mowrey, 63 of Bluefield VA, died March 1, 2018 after a five year battle with metastatic bone cancer. She was born April 27, 1954 to Sam Wells and Ann Scott Wells. A 1972 graduate of Graham High School, she worked several office jobs in the area including Aramark. Her proudest achievement was becoming a certified customs broker after passing the exam the first time and working for a customs brokerage in Dublin Va. Pat loved jigsaw puzzles and was also skilled at cross-stitching, embroidery, tatting, and all sorts of yarn work. She was a member of Ebenezer Methodist Church. He was a well-known catcher with the Glen While baseball team until injured in 1937. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sadie Sullivan; three sons, Billy Marvin, Jerry Eugene and Milton Wayne, all at home; a daugnter, Lucella Sue, and a sister, Mrs. Bertha Wells, of Bishop, Va. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Bertha; 4 beloved daughters, Joanne (Garry) Manno, Debra (Michael) Gilliam, Billie (Steven) Dyal, Cindy (Ken) Hamman; special daughter, Sherry (Gary) Stebbins; 13 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers, Wayne (Avelina) Sullivan, Danny Treadway; uncle and aunt, Svend A. and Lee Petersen, and many extended family members in Denmark and Canada. Bill was preceded in death by his daughter, Kim Folck in 1991; sister, Sue Rose in 1998; brother, Jerry Sullivan in 2000, and his parents. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Avenue, where friends are invited to visit after 1:00 p.m. Tuesday. Masonic services will commence at 2:00 p.m. followed immediately by services with Rev. Robert L. Wuellner officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Special thanks to the nurses at Hospice of Northwest Ohio and the many family friends for the kindness and loving care provided to Bill and his family. on December 20, 2004.2

Born October 30, 1929 in Denmark, to parents Andreas and Kirstine Pedersen (née Frederiksen). Bertha arrived to the United States on May 22, 1956. Bertha was preceded in death by husband, Bill M. Sullivan; stepdaughter, Kim Folck; uncle, Svend Petersen; her parents, and 2 siblings. Bertha is survived by her stepdaughters, Joanne (Garry) Manno, Debra (Mike) Gilliam, Billie (Steve) Dyal, Cindy (Ken) Hamman; special daughter, Sherry (Gary) Stebbins; siblings, Gunner and Kaj in Canada; siblings Inger, Tove, Reimer, Benny, Lau, Grethe, and Karen in Denmark; aunt, Lee Petersen of Toledo; cousin, Jack Petersen of Toledo; cousin, Harry Petersen of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, and numerous family members throughout Denmark and Canada. Bertha was a faithful employee of Champion Spark Plug in Toledo for 28 years, until she retired in June of 1991. She was a member of the Champion Quarter Century and Retiree Club, in which she served multiple terms as President. She loved to entertain, offering an abundance of her delicious Danish cooking to all fortunate enough to sit at her table. She regularly hosted card games with her girlfriends and loved spending time with her family and many friends. on October 31, 2013.3
