Ruby spent her entire life in the Copper Hill community and is fondly remembered as a talented seamstress and quilter and as a wonderful cook. Ruby loved all of her animals, especially raising cattle. She retired from Pannill Knitting when she was 56. She was preceded in death by her parents, Posey and Susie King, and her stepmother, Blanche King, who had helped raise her from an early age. Ruby is survived by her husband of 64 years, Aubrey C. Beckner; two daughters, Shirley Jones and Charlotte Crouch and her husband, David; and a son, Mark Beckner and his wife, Darlene. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Monica, Travis, Rodger, Amanda, Holly, Misty, Rory, Madison, and Grayson; one great-grandson, Zachary; and a sister, Ida Bolt and her husband, Odell. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at Copper Hill Church of the Brethren with Pastor Marty Moyer officiating. Interment will follow in Restvale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements by Oakey's South Chapel. on October 22, 2013.5

A.B. was a United States Navy Veteran and a 52-year member of Floyd Masonic Lodge #329 A.F. & A.M. He is survived by his children, Shirley Jones, Charlotte Crouch (David), and Mark (Darlene) Beckner; his grandchildren, Monica Puckette, Travis Neighbors, Rodger Conner, Amanda Conner, Holley Beckner, Misty Beckner, Rory Ann Jones, Madison Jones and Grayson Jones; one great-grandchild, Zachary Puckette; his brother, George Beckner; and his sister, Clara Gould. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 30, 2018, at Copper Hill Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Wesley Agee officiating. Interment with Military Honors and Masonic Rites will follow in Rest Vale Cemetery, Floyd County. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2018, at Oakey's South Chapel on Brambleton Ave. on March 29, 2018.3

Pilant died on May 19, 1909 at Van Buren Township, Clay Co., Indiana, at age 71.8,4,5 He David B. Pilant, one of Clay county's oldest and most prosperous residents departed this life very suddenly yesterday morning about 9:30 o'clock at his residence in Van Buren township, one mile north of the Star mine school house. Mr. Pilant was around about his work yesterday (Wednesday) morning as usual, when he was attacked with a severe pain around the heart and went into the house and laid down on the bed and soon became unconscious, and death soon relieved his sufferings. Mr. Pilant has been under the care of a physician for several months, but his death was unexpected and comes as a severe shock to the bereaved family, who have the sympathy of scores of friends in their sad hours of affliction. He was born in Henry County, Indiana, March 18, 1838, and at his death was past 71 years of age. He leaves to mourn, wife and six children, as follows: Three sons, P. J., Milton and John Pilant, and three daughters, Mrs. Octavia Butts, Mary S. Thomas, and Eliza C. Jones, and several grandchildren and one brother, James Pilant, of this city. on May 20, 1909.5
