Her husband, Harry Sanford Mayhall, died at Fort Meade, FL, in 1965. The Mayhalls were best known for twenty-two years of free winter band and orchestra concerts, drawing many tourists to Lakeland. In January, 1943, in a surprise ceremony, the City of Lakeland expressed its appreciation by naming the city auditorium the Harry S. Mayhall Auditorium. Mrs. Mayhall was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Rutledge, Missouri, Chapter 343, and a former member of the Dance Society of Florida. She is survived by three nephews, William H. Chatham, Studio City, Sherman Oaks, CA, Harold R. Chatham, Sylmar, CA, and Theodore B. Mayhall, Citrus Springs, FL; and by cousins, Mrs. Isabel Saccamano, Pprt Charlotte, FL, Mrs. Donella Aker Brown, Sparta, NJ, J. Robert Aker, Pawleys Island, SC, and Mrs. Elizabeth R. Aker, Northport, FL. Mrs. Mayhall asked that no funeral rites be observed. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gorin (Missouri) Cemetery Association or to Special Collections, Lakeland Public Library. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Bartow, FL. on November 17, 1992.4
